- This whole thing is just one big mess. Being married to a soldier has given me so much more appreciation for our troops. Yes, Bush got us into a big mess and we are trying to get out of it right now. I get so scared everyday I see a headline like this one because my husband is in Iraq right now and I dont know how I could deal with such a loss. I am so so so so very sorry for those families that lost a loved one. I support the troops so much and I thank them all for protecting us all. Some people may not understand, but we know what is going on. We cant change anything so why try? SoldierinIRAQ, I want to thank you for all of your hard work and dedication. You have the most difficult job in the world. I miss my husband so much and it melts my heart everytime I hear his voice. I will continue to pray for you all. I love you all!!!!! COME HOME SOON!!!!

- Everyone that posted a comment here should be ashamed of themselves if they call themselves true Americans. All you can talk about is Republican this, Democrat that. Liberals, conservatives, President Bush?s war, President Obama is doing nothing.
Not one of you offered your condolences to the family members of the 4 soldiers. Not one of you offered a Thank You to the soldiers that are serving in Iraq. Not one of you offered a word of encouragement or prayer. Yes, I am a Soldier! Yes, I may or may not agree with the war in Iraq or Afghanistan, but I am a Soldier and I go where I am told to go. I knew these soldiers, and I am proud to have called them friends. Why don?t we all work together to bring an end to this conflict instead of pointing finger at each other. There is an old saying, ?Point a finger at someone and there are three fingers pointing back at you.
Your welcome and I am honored to serve you over here in Iraq, even though you don?t show any appreciation at times! - Reply to this comment

- Not me, I'm not an American. I think it's you Americans who should be ashamed of yourselves for the countless crimes you have committed in Iraq, Afghanistan, Vietnam and more...... and ESPECIALLY Americans like you who are in the armed forces. You know about crimes committed by your colleagues and you have said nothing, so you are equally guilty.
- Four more US soldiers were killed in W's wholly unnecessary war.
Not "four troops" as a troop is a large group of soldiers or police officers.
As in a cavalry troop or "State Police Troop E". And a member of a troop is sometimes called a "trooper".
Four individual human beings died.
If you're going to report it at least get the terminology right. Don't make it worse than it was. - Reply to this comment

- No, it's because you would have been defeated even more badly than in Vietnam.
Face facts...... America doesn't have the guts to win a war and doesn't have the morality or intelligence to win a peace. - Reply to this comment
- BAGHDAD (AP) - Iraqi forces assume formal control of Baghdad and other cities on Tuesday after American troops hand over security in urban areas in a defining step toward ending the U.S. combat role in the country.
Fireworks, not bombings, colored the Baghdad skyline late Monday, and thousands attended a party in a park where singers performed patriotic songs. Loudspeakers at police stations and military checkpoints played recordings of similar tunes throughout the day, as Iraqi military vehicles decorated with flowers and national flags patrolled the capital.
"All of us are happy?Shiites, Sunnis and Kurds on this day," Waleed al-Bahadili said as he celebrated at the park. "The Americans harmed and insulted us too much."
Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki declared a public holiday and proclaimed June 30 as "National Sovereignty Day."

American troops want there to be success in IRAQ. The only groups in the world that will be joyous over IRAQI Failure are Terrorists and Democrats. The Democrats said they support the troops but the troops know that Democrats are hoping for Failure so they can express their Hate and Anger at Bush. Democrats and Al Qaeda hope for rivers of blood so they can say, I told you so. When the troops pull out, SEN Harry Reid will say, the war is lost, so that Al Qaeda will be motivated to slaughter. The enemy of peace is Al Qaeda and any Democrat Alive.
Brilliant post.
The troops KNOW that the democrats are really secret terrorists, and hope that Iraq fails.
1 - Iraq IS a failure, regardless of what anyone does or does not want.
2 - If the troops think the democrats are all terrorists, then WHY did 64% of all military voters vote for Obama and his "withdrawal plan", instead of McCain and his "stay there forever" plan? - Reply to this comment

mcintoshlou- If you had a clue you'd realize that just as many dems voted to go into Iraq as republicans.
Based on intelligence that Bush TOLD the CIA to fabricate.
It's amazing that almost 7 years later, you STILL see no problem with the Bush regime creating false intelligence and lies, to sucker the congress and senate into voting us into a needless war.
If the war was so sensible and justified, then why didn't Bush give congress and the senate the ACTUAL, REAL intelligence, and let them vote on that? - Reply to this comment

Why aren't you libs outside the white house protesting? You were there when Bush was in office. Was it just a show?
Because Obama didn't start the "War For Nothing". Bush did.
And Bush REFUSED to even TALK about getting out of Iraq. Obama made it a priority.
Even YOU must see that. - Reply to this comment

- So now that our troops are not walking around as targets, maybe they won't get killed.
We should pull out of Iraq totally by the end of this year.
There is no reason for US troops to be in Iraq, except of course to be security guards for the oil company interests. - Reply to this comment

- BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- Iraqis welcomed the Tuesday deadline for American troops to leave their towns and cities with a street festival in Baghdad, though fears of renewed violence tempered celebrations of what their government called "National Sovereignty Day."
The U.S. military has been gradually pulling its combat troops out of Iraq's population centers for months.
The U.S. military has been gradually pulling its combat troops out of Iraq's population centers for months.
Newscasters on the state television network Al-Iraqiya draped Iraqi flags around their necks as an onscreen clock counted down to midnight Monday. Earlier Monday evening, hundreds of people danced and sang in a central Baghdad park to mark the U.S. pullout.
"I feel the same way as any Iraqi feels -- I will feel my freedom and liberation when I don't see an American stopping an Iraqi on the street," said Baghdad resident Awatef Jwad.
