KHOU: Texas MD With Jackson Amid Collapse
(CBS)
Updated at 6:38 p.m. EDT
CBS station KHOU in Houston is reporting that a Texas doctor was in Michael Jackson's southern California home when he collapsed from sudden cardiac arrest.
A medical assistant at the Acres Home Heart and Vascular Institute told KHOU that a doctor from there was one of Jackson's physicians.
Dr. Conrad Robert Murray, a cardiologist licensed to practice medicine in Texas and Nevada, was living with Michael Jackson at his rented Holmby Hills mansion, according to KHOU.
Jermaine Jackson said his brother's personal physician tried to resuscitate him at his home, as did the paramedics, but it's not clear if the personal physician he was referring to was Dr. Murray. Then at the hospital, doctors tried to revive him for more than an hour Thursday , but were unsuccessful.
CBS News correspondent Bill Whitaker reports police now are seeking Murray and they impounded the car he was driving at Jackson's mansion.
The Los Angeles Times reported Friday that Murray, a cardiologist, was hired by a concert promoter to accompany the entertainer to London for his comeback concert series, a Jackson advisor said today.
The Times report that police talked to Murray briefly at UCLA Medical Center, are trying to track him down for further interviews.
