Amanda Knox's Father: "I Was Very Proud"

A Seattle woman has testified at the Italian murder trial of her daughter, Amanda Knox, who is accused of killing her British roommate.

Edda Mellas said Friday Knox got along great with Meredith Kercher at the apartment they shared in Perugia, Italy.

And on The Early Show Friday, Knox's father, Curt Knox, said his ex-wife's testimony is going to bolster his daughter's case. Curt said Mellas heard the shock in Amanda's voice when she found Kercher's body in their apartment on Nov. 2, 2007.

Mellas testified Friday that, in her first call to Mellas, Amanda said she thought somebody was in the house. In her second and third calls, Mellas said, Knox was distraught after Kercher's body was found.

Curt also told Early Show co-anchor Maggie Rodriguez he was "very proud" of his daughter's testimony, saying she answered all the questions she faced articulately and directly. Knox testified in Italian.

Prosecutors say the University of Washington student and her boyfriend killed Kercher during a sex game. Both deny wrongdoing. Another man accused of taking part was convicted and sentenced to 30 years.

No parents ever say no to their murderer young ones? The same as this guy Knox and his wife.Yeah, their daughter was an angel here.But not there.That't why we get bad rap from other countries.This is the same as the Aruba girl's story,her mother forgot the real deal and went to make money.
In Italia,your girl was not as u said always at home studying.SHE WAS OUT PARTYING,SMOKING,WORKING IN THAT BAR WHERE SHE GOT JEALOUS WITH kERSHER.Because the bar owner Lumumba likes better Kersher than Amanda Knox.That's why she killed her and that's why she implicated the poor bar owner too.The victim,signorina Kersher was prettier,had more friends,helps some out of luck guys like Geede,knows how to dress a la European unlike Amanda who is much like a rich girl out of hand.It took her less than a week to turn Solecitto into a murderer.Do you know or have you ever been in a foreign country and observed how our lil ones so called virgin or well parented act there?,You ain't got no Idea how bad they change or they wanna been seen

These two discussion boards are ***far*** from excellent. While seemingly based on wanting justice for the victim -- a worthy cause -- they are continually biased, and have been so from the first day I read them. The second even references Ann Coulter, of all people, as being "...THE most prominent and influential American commentator so far on this case." Caveat emptor. I cannot say that I have found a "best source" for objective reporting (even in the media, but especially from bloggers and bulletin boards); the best seem to just try to report the evidence, without applying any spin or other such judgment. Until ***all*** the evidence is presented, I suggest that others do likewise.

It's a shame so many have joined in the bandwagon of beliefs that Amanda is without any guilt. Some of this is due to the drumming up of media offered from camps of entrenched misinformation. It is so sad for Amanda's family - no doubt unable to believe she'd be capable of such a thing. But, until the evidence is examined carefully will there be any thing that can be gained from hearing from the parents; it simply promotes biases and provincial thinking. I feel for these parents.

Young women are very jealous at this age. Jealousy is a powerful emotion, often misunderstood or dismissed by those who believe a 'motive' of grander idea be in place.

Let's not forget about the victim - who most likely had no interest in the 'games' the press suggest were the motive. And, let's not forget about HER family as well. It's a sorry story all around.

It is a tragedy that such a crime was committed -- may the family find peace when the truth comes out. However, the entire testimony has not presented, and I find it disturbing that there is such polarization is conclusions already drawn. The media holds nothing on the discussion boards, which are truly disturbing in their bias. I suggest that all just let the evidence flow before assigning motive -- jealousy or otherwise.
