Tiller Suspect's Bail Raised To $20M

(AP)  The prosecutor of the man accused of killing abortion provider George Tiller told a judge that a reasonable person would believe the suspect has engaged in "alleged acts of American terrorism."

A transcript was released Tuesday of an impromptu telephone call last week between attorneys and the judge in the case of Scott Roeder, of Kansas City, Mo. The document makes public for the first time why Roeder's bond was raised to $20 million.

District Attorney Nola Foulston told the judge prosecutors were concerned about the safety of the community because Roeder can "reach out" to several people and blogs.

In raising the bond, Judge Warren Wilbert cited comments Roeder has made to the news media since his arrest about other possible anti-abortion "events."

In a docket hearing Tuesday, Roeder's preliminary hearing was continued until June 30.

Here's a $2 donation toward your bail Mr. Tiller.

On second thought, I think I might buy a cup of coffee instead.

A bit of overkill on the bail conditions. Like this loner is going to be able to "reach out" to internet buddies to the tune of $20 million. I guess the higher bail will help the judge and/or prosecutor run for reelection.

The constitution says "reasonable bail". The judge is wrong on this one. You have to remember something, if they can deny this guy his constitutional rights, they can do the same to you. It's "not" about what he did, it's about constitutional "rights". Do we have them, or don't we ? If they deny bail to this guy, then they should just do away with bail altogether, and deny it to everybody. Some agree with what the killer of "Tiller the killer" did, and some do not, but either way it shouldn't have anything to do with bail.

Why have any bond amount? There should not be a bond for terrorists.

I agree with terrorism that is what he should also be charged with and then send him to gitmo and waterboard him until he tells us where the rest of the terrorist are.
