"When your child's missing, you take any bit of help that you can," Cindy Anthony remarked to Early Show co-anchor Maggie Rodriguez Tuesday. "You take every help. You don't turn anybody away. You can't turn anybody away."
Cindy's daughter, Casey Anthony, 23, has pleaded not guilty to first degree murder in the death of Casey's daughter, Caylee Anthony. Prosecutors say they'll seek the death penalty.
Caylee was last seen by Cindy and her husband, George Anthony, a year ago. It wasn't until a month later that Casey revealed Caylee was missing. Casey was arrested in October. Caylee's body was found in December. Casey's trial is tentatively set for this coming October.
Casey has claimed Caylee was with a babysitter when she vanished.
Cindy Anthony was responding Tuesday to the recent rejection of efforts by her and George to help Ronald Cummings, a 25-year-old northern Florida man whose daughter, Haleigh Cummings, has been missing since early February.
Haleigh was reported missing when Ronald Cummings returned home from work to his mobile home in a heavily wooded area north of Satsuma. Ronald Cummings' girlfriend, Misty Croslin, 17, says she tucked Haleigh into her own bed at 8 o'clock and, when she woke up, Haleigh had vanished.
Rodriguez reminded Cindy and George Anthony that, in nixing their efforts to reach out to them, Ronald Cummings had said they were doing so because have their own agenda.
"They have every right to say what they want to say," George observed to Rodriguez, "because they are controlling that. And I understand that. We're just here to help in any way we can -- just a little bit of support. I'll stand in the background. I'm not gonna be there in the forefront. I never was at the beginning.
"I was just offering some support, some moral support and some ways that he could possibly bring more awareness for his child. That's what I was trying to help with. ... And if he called and said, 'George, I need your help, I'd still be there to help him. I'm not going to stop unless he tells me to stop. But I understand. It's a tough situation for everybody."
Cindy told Rodriguez Cummings is erring in turning her and George away. "You know," Cindy said, "that one exposure of your child's face out there could be that one time. So, you know, to him I say, you made a mistake.
"We're the ones who got national attention for their daughter the first night, because I was on the phone with national media. And that was the day of Caylee's memorial, Feb. 10. We had just gotten home from her memorial and heard about Haleigh. So we hurried up and made desperate phone calls to people in the national media to say, 'Hey, start covering the story.' And that was a day that I should have been home just worrying about myself."
Cindy wept when telling Rodriguez how she feels at this point. "It's been a year," Cindy recalled. "Yesterday was a tough day. Today is a tough day. Every day has been a tough day this last year. And I just miss her. I just miss her so much."
George said, "The last time I saw her was June 16, one year ago today. I woke up with her in the morning at 7:30, got a chance to have breakfast with her. Just before 1:00 that day, I didn't ever realize that that'd be the last time I would see her, have a chance to kiss her, hold her. I would hear her call me Jo-Jo, and put her in a car and wave good-bye to her."
Cindy and George have set up a foundation in Caylee's memory "to continue to bring awareness of children, you know, children that are missing," Cindy says, and give their families emotional and financial support.

- Go actually do some investigative journalism for a change.
Why do the public give these two no sympathy?.
Go read Cindy Anthony's FBI tapes and see that Caylee was reduced to window dressing. She inititated the meeting 2 weeks after Caylee was reported missing which would be over 6 weeks since this poor little girl had been seen alive. They interestingly enough let her talk and talk.
Her agenda was clear, soley trying to get her daughter off.
Im sure the FBI had a profiler listen to her rambling accusatory sh*t. - Reply to this comment
- Once again CBS gives these people a platform to raise money for their daughter's defense. Why do even call yourselves a news channel?

- I can't believe any media is giving these lying grandparents any face time. It's pathetic. They are doing nothing but running a fake foundation living off of their dead grandchild, not even standing up for her. They are to fragile to have the autopsy released yet they can stick there face on tv and tell BS. The public is sick of these 2 enough is enough!! Justice for Caylee!!

- I think cummings turned them down because he knows what happened to his daughter

- Caylee evil Grandmother and Grandfather are lining there pockets. These two liars need to be in a cell close to their murderous daughter so they can all lie together.

- They deserve to be thrown out on their behinds. They rejected Tim Miller and his group, defend Caylee's MURDURER and now want to help other children. I wouldn't allow them to help find a thing nor wish to have them in my presence. They aren't worthy enough to be around. They continually use Caylee as a tool for sympathy and money while defending Caylee's murderer. Both of them deserve lethal injection -same as Casey. Never once, not once did they ever say "we want Caylee's murdered punished to the fullest extent of the law" never once - if they believe Casey didn't do it - OK then say it for someone else but never never do they support Caylee unless they have a camera on them. When the camera is off - it is all Casey.

Yup, it is all about you isn't it Cindy, you make me sick.
Why would they want your help, you didn't help to look for your own
grand child, where were you when she was missing for a month???

She was living her 15 minutes of fame to the hilt.
She's still trying to.
Too bad George's suicide attempt didn't stick.
All great candidates for a waterboarding session. - Reply to this comment

- The Anthonys are all a bunch of whackos.
The family turning down their help may be no better.
Dysfunction all the way around to the detriment of 2 small children. - Reply to this comment
- If they had been doing their jobs in the first place Caylee might still be alive. I have no sympathy for them or Casey; thay are all
culpable in the death of that child. - Reply to this comment
- I think it is absolutely wrong to keep having these people on national tv. If one stops and reads so far what has been said by this family, you would see the picture here.
As for their 'Foundation', one also needs to research the information on how this started and see what is going on. They are not trying to help anyone but themselves. for goodness sake, even LKL took the link down off his site RE their 'Foundation'.
I think the entire country is tired of these people already. Why you keep promoting them is anyone's guess. The Ultimate Clown Circus Parade. Enough is ENOUGH! - Reply to this comment
- I guess the biggest issue that I have here is that their daughter who is accused of killing their granddaughter is getting the best lawyers possible for her defence. An accounting of the family's assets is slim and none so how is this being paid for? I speculate that the grandparents are pimping themselves out to the media to pay for all the high priced lawyers.
Anyone else's thoughts on this? - Reply to this comment

- The Family's assests are not that slim. they have made approx. 1 million off their media junkets, etc. You'd think if their daughter was so innocent, they'd cough up the bail.
I have heard that there in some Cities, there are 'funds' for 'private counsel', but I believe these attornies are getting paid by also going on these media blitzes. You don't honestly think they are doing this out of the kindness of their hearts, do you?

- It is sad how naive and ignorant the America public is these days. The police and prosecutors with narrow minds and obvious agenda to close the case even if it means a simple witch hunt against the Anthony's. If there is no evidence they simple make anything up and feed it to the media. The sheeple of the American public then buy it hook, line, and sinker. It is so easy to convict an innocent person in the kangeroo kourts where biased ex-prosecutors act as judges and even easier when the dishonest prosecutors illegally feed the media with misinformation and illegally withhold evidence that will clear the accused. A "meter reader" knows the location of the body for months yet he is not investigated at all. A true travesty of justice in this case.

- The Anthony's Are Cashing in on Caylee. Shameless
Sweet angel Caylee, this one's for you:
REMEMBERING CAYLEE MARIE
I see sweet Caylee in the clouds
The softest pillows for her head
She watches us with tender eyes
An angel doesn?t need a bed.
She flutters like a butterfly
Our sweet angel in heaven above
Every tear we?ve shed for her
Sent her a message of our love.
Once there lived a little girl
So full of life and oh so sweet
Now she shines among the stars
She twirls around on angel feet.
No cares disturb her sense of joy
There?s nothing more to fear inside
Now she greets the newest babes
Welcomes them with arms so wide.
We blow baby kisses up to her
Her spirit we will always treasure
Hush, don?t cry, she is not sad
Caylee now knows only pleasure. - Reply to this comment
- ITHINK THE MORE,THE ANTHONY'S ARE IN THE MEDIA,PEOPLE GET MORE UPSET I MYSELF INCLUDED.MAYBE WHEN SHE IS FOUND GUILTY AFTER THE TRIAL,REALITY WILL SET IN,THAT THEIR DAUGHTER MURDERED THEIR SWEET LITTEL GRANDAUGHTER CAYLEE!

- Today was a hard day for the Anthony's negative comments does not help them heal. I dont think anyone can feel more pain than what they do. They seen her from birth to death. Lets have a little sympanthy, cause no matter what we believe their daugther is innocent until proven guilty.
The truth of it God is an awsome God and he will be Caylee's avenger to who ever caused her pain. - Reply to this comment
- YOUR EMPATHY SHOULD BE WITH THEIR MURDERED GRANDDAUGHTER. THE ANTHONY'S ARE ONLY CONCERNED W/their killer DAUGHTER; meaning: they have thrown Caylee aside in favor of EXPLOITING every aspect of Caylee.
Leonard Padilla was no more or less than a facilitator. Stupidly, HE thought Casey would come clean --IF she were released. IF SHE HAD A CONSCIENCE --WHICH she clearly DOES NOT.
THESE PEOPLE (THE ANTS) ARE ALL ABOUT THEMSELVES. THEY ARE LIVING OFF THE REMAINS OF CAYLEE --THEY DO NOT WORK; THEY USE THE GOODWILL OF COMPASSIONATE PEOPLE TO LIVE AS WELL AS THEY ARE THESE DAYS. PRIOR TO CAYLEE'S DEATH, THEY WERE VIRTUALLY BANKRUPT. THAT ALL CHANGED WHEN THEY STARTED COLLECTING MONEY IN CAYLEE'S MEMORY. SCUM WOULD FEEL INSULTED BEING CALLED "THE ANTHONY'S." - Reply to this comment
- Compashn...I definitely DO NOT see Casey as a victim, she did pull this ALL on herself, with all the lies she told. We may never know the truth of what happened. What we do know is yes, a beautiful child is no longer here, and should be living life to the fullest.
I DO DISAGREE with your statement about the Caylee Marie Anthony Foundation. Non, Profit Organizations or governed rather strict and have stiff consequenses. I work with many non profit organizations, and do fundraisers, much of their funds are from donations.
Have you notice the sudden increase in abducted kids lately, it just seems unreal lately.
Plus many families who have lost people to devastating deaths, do Make Lasting Foundations that become resourceful, or speakers. Look at the Adam Walsch, Polly Klass, the Amber Alert Story, Now Caylee can make a lasting impression for something good. - Reply to this comment
