-
Tyler Weinman, 18, was arrested for allegedly murdering and mutilating 19 cats in the Miami area. (WFOR)
Tyler Weinman, 18, faces 19 counts of animal cruelty, 19 counts of improper disposal of animal remains and four counts of burglary, reports CBS station WFOR-TV in Miami. Weinman is being held on $249,500 bail.
The attacks began more than a month ago and cat-owners had been urged recently to keep their pets confined indoors or use fencing to keep the cats in their yards. Residents were also asked to be vigilant for any suspicious activity in the neighborhood.
Weinman was taken into custody Saturday night while he attended a party. Police were still investigating whether he had any accomplices in the alleged attacks.

See all 306 CommentsBut I do not understand why the cat owners are not being held responsible for allowing these cats to roam? I have cats and they are happy living INDOORS. People who say it is the nature of the cat to roam...ridiculous as dogs were not put on this earth to be inside either. They were here to hunt and protect and yet they make perfect pets. Cat owners who allow their cats outside are conpletely irresponsible pet owners and should be held accountable. I know my neighbors do not want my cats in their yards and climbing on their cars as I dont want their dogs in mine. Take responsiblity for your pets and then maybe sickos like this wont have opportunities to do things like this.

Fencing to keep cats in their yard? I can see that working really well.
"May 6, 2009: ? A new national poll indicates that most Americans don't want to see an investigation of Bush administration officials who authorized harsh interrogation techniques on suspected terrorists.
Six in ten people questioned in a CNN/Opinion Research Corporation survey released Wednesday believe that some of the procedures, such as water boarding, were a form of torture, with 36 percent disagreeing.
But half the public approves of the Bush administration's decision to use of those techniques during the questioning of suspected terrorists, with 50 percent in approval and 46 percent opposed"
