Coleman Ordered To Pay $95K To Franken
Republican Must Pay Court Costs For Appeal Over Minnesota Senate Election Results
-
Al Franken and Norm Coleman (CBS/AP)
A Ramsey County court administrator entered the judgment Wednesday. It results from the two-month trial that ended with Coleman 312 votes short of Franken.
Minnesota law required Coleman to cover some of Franken's court costs because the race's outcome didn't change. The judgment excludes Franken's attorney fees.
The men have spent $50 million so far on their campaigns and legal fight over the November election. That's more than double the cost of the 2002 race when Coleman captured what had been a Democratic seat.
The Minnesota Supreme Court hasn't said when it will rule on Coleman's appeal.

- Who could doubt the integrity of this court? "We haven't reached our decision yet, but Mr. Coleman, you are gonna have to pay part of Mr. Franken's court cost (even if you should win)." No chance of a stacked deck here!

- Our Supreme Court or who's is it, This is a condition that has to stop as well, our laws were not set up for a convenience of a party but for a nation of laws for the people, I just can't imagine why these courts are holding hostage a man who won an election, so he cannot be seated as the people wanted. What is wrong with our courts for this to happen, why is there not a law to speed this up, people right are being violated because they are not being represented. Nov 4th this has been going on 7 months unbelievable

+ report abuse + pe
You are right in that statement, seems to me that is all they have to say some hateful remark ,and no one seems to have a answer as to how to change the mind set so they can solve the hatefulness of people who think they are right, and never wrong. Why do we elect people who play up to this base of people? Why do we not educate in some way so they will not be so ignorant. How do we as a people change this? Look at this list of news articles just about all has something to do with hate. How do we change the media from doing tabloid journalism, and playing to these people and their remarks, just to capture a audience. I bet you are saying nothing we can do about it . I think we can. This is America the land of the free the home of the brave not a land of hate - Reply to this comment
- The problem here isn't Coleman, it's the courts. There's no way they should have allowed this to drag on this long. If Coleman really thinks he's got a case, he should be allowed to make it; but quickly and to the point.

- Throw in the towel, Coleman, while you still have a slim chance to save a hint of decency for yourself.....Posted by chitown639
I live in Minnesota, and all of the people that I talk to here agree that Coleman lost his last shred of dignity and decency a LONG time ago. After all, he IS a politician. Republicans and Democrats are no different, a politician is a politician. They ALL lie, cheat, do whatever they have to do to get re-elected and grease the skids for their pork-barrel spending on each others pet projects. - Reply to this comment
- Coleman saying, "It's not over until the fat lady sings"
Looks like Aretha Franklin maybe able to scored another gig after she sang at the Obama Inuguration, but this time in Minnesota to let Coleman know..... IT'S OVER! - Reply to this comment
