Suspect James Von Brunn Railed Against Blacks, Jews, Found Allies On White Supremacist Web Sites

(CBS)  Federal investigators in Washington, D.C. are scouring the troubled history of 88 year-old shooting suspect James Von Brunn - an anti-Semite with a lifelong grievance against the government who found allies on white supremacist Web sites.

On his own site, holywesternempire.org, Von Brunn promotes his Internet book "'Kill the Best Gentiles'... a new hard-hitting expose of the JEW CONSPIRACY to destroy the White gene-pool."

Chapters are titled "The Holocaust Hoax," "The Negro," and "The Aryan Force." In writing fondly about Nazis, Von Brunn claims, "Hitler, as American boobs are beginning to learn, was not all wrong."

Von Brunn, who claims to be a genius and a U.S. Navy World War II veteran, spent six years in federal prison. He was convicted for breaking in to Federal Reserve headquarters in Washington in 1981, armed with a revolver, sawed-off shotgun and hunting knife. Von Brunn said he wanted to kidnap then Fed Chairman Paul Volcker for failing to curb rising interest rates.

He later ranted, "Remember, the Federal Reserve Act (1913) gave JEWS control of America's MONEY."

Police and federal agents today converged on Von Brunn's apartment complex in Annapolis, Md., looking for potential evidence.

But, he's moved around in white supremacist circles, living for a while in Hayden, Ida., the same community that was home to the founder of the Aryan Nation.

The Holocaust Museum shootings came 11 days after another hate crime, the murder of Kansas abortion doctor George Tiller. The suspect in that shooting, Scott Roeder, is described as an anti-abortion rights radical.

The violence underscores a troubling trend. In the past eight years, the number hate groups in America has exploded - up 50 percent from 602 in 2000 to 926 last year.

Sources say Von Brunn apparently acted alone and police know of no other targets. But, they're keenly aware that the hatred he spewed is at the base of a wider on-going threat.

Actually there are many, many hate groups all over America. Many of them meet in the board rooms of the big American corporations. Unfeeling, uncaring except for profits and they own both political parties. They rape and pillage the American people without any fear of retribution (so far).

So true. They also almost destroyed the world's economy due to their greed, lack of ethics and scruples and then they were rewarded by handouts from the Federal Reserve and US Treasury who gave them trillions owed by future generations. They have names like Federal Reserve, Lehman and Goldman Sachs and they knew exactly what they were doing when they created the housing and usury credit bubble that ended with the stolen retirements and the homes from many.

Where's the NRA in all this? They keep saying EVERYONE should gave guns, but with this story they haven't uttered a peep. For a guy who has already served time in prison for attacking the Federal Reserve with a gun, I'd sure like to know why he was able to acquire another one. With the increase in hate groups since the Obama election, this is a scary precedent and I'd really love to hear what the right wing has to say about this.

While it may be a bit difficult to legally differentiate between 'Free Speech' and crossing the line into incitement of criminal acts, I think that we can do a better job than we are now doing. A lot of what incites these people is nothing more than irresponsible distribution of , so called, facts, that are, in fact, absolute donkey dust. These are easily picked up by, generally, 'eager beaver,' sophomoric, somewhat intellectually challenged individuals, who are either eager to highlight this bogus information into their arguments(as seen here and
on other sites) and/or act upon them to become the 'savior of the country.' This behavior is found in extreme leftist circles, but is more dominate and frequent with those of the extreme right. A lot of this could be reversed through a better system of education, better dissemination of truthful information (something that was done by this network and others, during the last campaign-giving the facts on statements made by both parties)and, finally, cracking down hard on those who insist upon the use of criminal behavior and terrorism to further their frequently outrageous and insane beliefs.

Dear CBS
There is a saying in Dutch "Bedank vor het les" which means "Thank (you) for the lesson". Which is what I want to do ,thank you for the lesson. The lesson being there is a lot of hatred in America.
Far too much hatred. And it is tearing the country apart.
People writing on these forums are so nit picking about differences , minor diferences about other people It in it self is a sickness. Not just the hatred but the miniscule fault finding.
Yeah it is a form of bullying.
Now you have to ask yourself "Why are so many Americans bullying others?" Why is there so much hatred.? Why is there so much murdering going?
Oh what a thesis for a phsyhcology major.
Or a subject for a forum.

Just because YOU wrongly "think" that only one or two races can hate, and just go around with the rightwingus whackosus mentality of "islamofascists" from your foxnewsus propagandus, doesn't make the corporate media any more biased one way or another.

The party of NO -- the southern, white, evangelicals have been full of hatred forever, and still have illegal poll taxes in one shape or form, despite the Civil Rights movement back in the 1960's, and have bred white supremacy groups before and after.
