(CBS)  You might not know it, but Friday is National Donut Day!

And what better way to mark it than to make your own?

That's just what the Early Show anchors did, with the help of a true donut maven: Stan Frankenthaler, the executive chef of Dunkin' Donuts.

He brought all sorts of donuts and ingredients for them to use, and everyone agreed, "It's to make
the donuts!" echoing a famous Dunkin' advertising slogan.

Asked which of his chain's varieties is his fave, Frankenthaler got a big laugh when he said, "I really tend to love them all!"

He said the simple glazed donut is Dunkin's best-seller, and the old-fashioned didn't get its name by accident: It was Dunkin's first.

Dunkin' Donuits was established in 1950 and says it now sells some selling 2.5 million donuts and donut holes every day.

Frankenthaler also unveiled the winner of a nationwide Dunkin' contest to find the best new donut recipe in the country. It drew some 130,000 entries:
