"Dancing With The Stars"

Season 8 (March 9, 2009-May 19, 2009)

The Other Dancers:

Injuries sidelined two "DWTS" celebrities, "Access Hollywood" host Nancy O'Dell and singer Jewel, before the show could even begin. But Playboy model Holly Madison and "Bachelor" winner Melissa Rycroft (who was dumped after the show ended) stepped in and competed in their places. Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak received the second-lowest score in show history for his samba with Karina Smirnoff, and real-life couple Chuck Wicks and Julianne Hough competed (and were eliminated) together. "Sex and the City" actor Gilles Marini was a front-runner and scored high throughout the competition, but eventually he and Cheryl Burke came in second to Olympic gymnast Shawn Johnson and partner Mark Ballas, who took home this season's mirrorball trophy.

Jeffrey Ross and Edyta Sliwinska

Season 7 broke age barriers - Disney star Cody Linley became the youngest person ever to compete on the show (though Shawn Johnson would steal that title from him in season 8) and actress Cloris Leachman became the oldest contestant ever. It was also a season riddled with injuries - Olympic volleyball player Misty May-Treanor had to withdraw after tearing her Achilles tendon during practice, soap star Susan Lucci fractured two bones in her foot, dancer Julianne Hough was diagnosed with endometriosis and missed weeks 7-8 and model and TV personality Brooke Burke injured her foot during rehearsals. Despite the injury, Burke and partner Derek Hough scored high throughout the competition and went on to become champions.

Former Olympic figure skater Kristi Yamaguchi put her skills from the ice to use on the dance floor in season 6 - she never scored below a 27 throughout the entire show. She also received four out of the five perfect scores given out all season (the other perfect 30 went to Jason Taylor and Edyta ?liwi?ska), and got three of them for her final dances, giving her a perfect score of 90. Her win made her the first female "DWTS" winner since Kelly Monaco took the title in the first season.

Season 5 (Sept. 24, 2007-Nov. 27, 2007)

Wayne Newton and Cheryl Burke
Albert Reed and Anna Trebunskaya
Josie Maran and Alec Mazo

Tragedy struck the celebrities during the show's fifth season. Marie Osmond lost her father and Jane Seymour lost her mother during the course of the show, but both remained in the competition. Osmond also fainted during the judges' critique of her samba in week 5, but stayed to receive her score (she got a 21). The elimination of Cheetah Girls singer Sabrina Bryan and partner Mark Ballas during week 6 shocked both the judges and fellow contestants, and TV Guide named it the most shocking television event of 2007. Racing champion Hélio Castroneves took the title home that season, and former Spice Girl Mel B came in second, making her the first female runner-up in the show's history.

His partner, Edyta ?liwi?ska, went on to compete with TV host John Ratzenberger and was eliminated in week 7. The final three came down to boxer Leila Ali, former 'N Sync band member Joey Fatone and speed skater Apolo Anton Ono, who went on to take home the trophy for that season.

Country singer Sara Evans had to withdraw from the competition after week 5 to be with her children after filing for divorce from husband Craig Schelske. Jerry Springer's popularity took him further than his dancing talent should have, but ultimately it was "Saved By The Bell" alum Mario Lopez and NFL running back Emmitt Smith who made it to the final two, and each couple scored an 89 during the season finale. However, Smith finished the season with the trophy and Lopez ended up taking second place.

98 Degrees singer Drew Lachey and WWE star Stacy Keibler became front-runners early on in the competition, and became the only celebrities during the season to earn perfect scores. Jerry Rice's popularity with fans carried him throughout the competition even though the judges were critical of his performances. Many thought that Lisa Rinna should have advanced to the finals instead of Rice, but the retired NFL player eventually made it into second place. Keibler came in third, while Lacey took home the season two title.
