Miss North Carolina was crowned this year's winner and will compete in the Miss Universe pageant.

(AP)  Miss California USA can retain her crown even though she failed to reveal she had posed in her underwear as a teenager, pageant owner Donald Trump said Tuesday.

Carrie Prejean appeared by Trump's side as he made the announcement at New York's Trump Tower.

Trump also defended the answer that Prejean gave at last month's Miss USA pageant when she was asked her view of marriage by judge Perez Hilton, a celebrity blogger. She said she believes marriage is between a man and a woman.

"It's the same answer the president of the United States gave; it's the same answer many people gave," Trump said. "She gave an honorable answer; she gave an answer from her heart."

Trump said he and other pageant officials had reviewed racy photos of Prejean and decided they were acceptable.

"We are in the 21st century. We have determined the pictures taken are fine," he said, adding that "in some cases the pictures were lovely."

After Trump spoke, the 21-year-old Prejean, who was accompanied by her parents, took her turn at the lectern, defending herself against what she described as vicious attacks.

She talked about getting thousands of letters and e-mails from people supporting her and said, about the marriage question, that Hilton had asked her a "politically charged question with a hidden personal agenda."

"I stated my honest belief," she said.

Hilton, whose real name is Mario Lavandeira, is best known as a celebrity blogger but has also branched off into gay rights advocacy.

Newster1: It's probably a good thing that you don't have children since you obviously hate them so! In spite of what you said, most unwed mothers, don't hate their children because they know that it isn't the child's fault that they are born! That is those with a heart and common sense anyway!

For your information I would adopt a child in a minute if I could afford it, but I can't. My income won't allow it. I was one of those children that you're talking about. My parents adopted me when I was one year old. My birth mother could no longer take care of me and was about to place me in an orphanage along with my older brothers. That is why I'm very much against abortion. Considering the situation that I was born into, I could very easily have been one of those aborted babies. I THANK GOD every day that I wasn't! My mother didn't hate me and she loved me enough to do what was best for me and give me up to adoptive parents who loved me and could support me.

I also consider abortion to be murder and with today's birth control methods there is absolutely no excuse for it! If I could prevent it I wouldn't allow even one penny of my tax dollars to fund abortions!

I can tell you what concerns me is that MY tax dollars are going to fund abortions, atheist groups and organizations like the ACLU, gay activist groups, pork projects such as the study of the American beatle and such trash as that!
Posted by ladypirate2"

Since when do tax dollars go to "atheist" groups? if you are referring to non-profit tax exemption then say so, but then you open a can of worms there because MY tax dollars are going to YOUR church's tax exemptions, and its going to YOUR schools which since I dont have kids doesnt benefit me one iota nor do I make use of that "service" I am being forced to pay on my property tax bill every year.
As far as abortions go, then step up to the plate and pay the full costs and ADOPT that unwanted kid- all of them or keep quiet because unless you want those kids raised in a home where the parent(s) HATES them, resents their being alive every day, and never wanted them in the first place, then they shouldnt be born in the first place, but forcing a girl to keep a kid she wants gone is stupidity.

Study of the beetles? you mean the USDA type studies to learn all about pests and how they destroy FOOD CROPS, trees, and other things in the environment we NEED to live?
I'd say thats money well spent, a billion dollars spent on the Hubble telescope for pretty pictures is NOT! We have fungus and insects as well as acid rain destroying forests and crops at a phenomenal rate- you'd better HOPE these things are studied well so they can be counteracted.

Newster1: Christians have been burned at the stake, too! Remember Joan of Arc? The apostle Paul was beheaded and Peter was crucified upside down. James was boiled in oil. Stephen was beaten to death with stones and the list goes on.

So the story goes, and what was done to them back then is of no concern to me, if your god was real he would have stopped that. What IS of concern to me is the christians' activities then and now, affecting laws and Govt policies and more that affects everyone else in this country REGARDLESS of their beliefs, and that MY tax dollars are being used to support religious CULTS and propaganda thru tax exemptions and more.

Nice try Rick, creating a new account to pat yourself on the back and make it look like you have support LOL
As far as the above- GOOD, you people not only slammed everyone else throught history, you KILLED them, or need I remind you of the xtian HISTORY as documented over hundreds of years proving the bloodshed, deaths, mutilations, subversion of women, wholescale slaughter of innocent animals for "sin offerings" "witch" trials, hangings, beheadings, torture, burning at the stake, jailing, promotion/justification of slavery, justification of stealing land frm the native Americans to run the land better for "god", the heresy and blasphemy trials, the sunday "blue laws" and all the rest YOU people have perpetrated in the name of your "beliefs" and your scripted book of death.

I'd say being "slammed" by political groups and other is a cake walk compared to being BURNED AT THE STAKE!

Fighting4Freedom: Keep on fighting the fight! I am one of you and I completely agree with you! We have got to take a stand against the evil that is assaulting us in these last days! If we don't all of our rights as Christians will be taken away! We are being assaulted on every hand! If we so much as mention that we are Christians or if we make a statement such as Miss Prejean did and uphold the Biblical definition of marriage or even uphold the Bible or Christianity in any way, we are slammed and criticized and downright hated by every atheist and gay rights group and groups like the ACLU in the country! In many cases if you are a public figure like Carrie Prejean and Sarah Palin they will actively do everything that they can to discredit you and ruin you and bring you down! We have got to stand and fight!

Only Satan makes a claim that Christ is dead, or direct servants of him. The Pharisees sent Christ to the cross, they consider Him dead to this day, just like YOU do.

Your religion doesn't matter to me. Why would I care about YOUR Scriptures? They mean nothing.

Nothing.

Humans told you about them, and you swallowed them hook, line, and sinker. You listen to Man, not God.

You will wish you had listened, too, when you're on your deathbed and about to leave this world and you know that your condition is terminal and there's no hope for your recovery! That is IF you have a deathbed and you're not taken out suddenly with a heart attack or in a accident!

Hopefully, you realize that Muslims, and Hindi, and Buddhist, and all of the other 3,000+ religions, or just the 20 "major" ones, on the face of the Earth also believe something similar.

True, they ALL have their old books, scriptures, text, ceremonies, icons or figures, and they all have the same basic theme with variations, but almost always involves some magical and coincidently INVISIBLE deity no one ever sees who requires worship, doles out punishment and rewards (sorta like Santa Claus) and involves working towards some eternal PARADISE.

The methodology, specifics, texts and all the rest varies but that's the general theme- worship, sacrifice for this deity, MONEY or goods, getting punishment or reward at the end.
People like RICK are happy to post about how EVERYONE but him and those who believe in his dead fantasy man in the sky get to be "saved" from this deity- every one else gets burned up in "punishment" that includes the entire population of the native Americans the white eyes slaughtered for god, blacks they stole for slaves, Hindus, Muslims- all of it, everyone except those who call themselves christian (chrustaceans I call em)

That kind of viewpoint is what made the christian cruisades, witch burnings and more possible- to kill their version of "gods enemies", funny thing is though, how this Santa cant do his OWN dirty work but needed THEM to do it for him with swords, knives etc LOL

Anyone who can make you believe an absurdity (dead guys come back to life) can also make you commit an atrocity (waterboarding).
Posted by nancy_naive at 9:13 AM : May 13, 2009

you should change your name to nancy dunce. people have come back from the dead. i have read where people were clinically dead, some saw a white light, then came back to life. as for waterboarding, it's not torture. if you knew anything about history, which of coarse you don't, the torture done through history is way worse. like the rack, dismembering, burning, bed of nails, the iron maiden, and on and on. waterboarding is not even close to torture. and why in the world would you bring something like that up in the post on miss cali? because you are a dunce. go worship your obama. hate to tell you, he can't help you after you kick the bucket, but jesus can.
