(AP)  "American Idol" finalist Allison Iraheta has a reason to cry.

The flame-haired 17-year-old high school student from Los Angeles, who crooned Janis Joplin's "Cry Baby" for her rock performance this week, was revealed Wednesday to have received the fewest viewer votes, leaving three singers in the popular Fox singing competition.

Iraheta seemed to take her dismissal in stride, belting out an energized "Cry Baby" reprise then razzing the last three dudes standing - Kris Allen, Danny Gokey and Adam Lambert. Throughout the competition, judge Simon Cowell chided Iraheta for not showing off more of her personality, but she finally lashed back at the acerbic British judge on Tuesday.

"He was asking for it," she said.

Before the results were revealed, the final four were joined by this week's mentor, former Guns 'N Roses guitarist Slash, for a frantic rendition of Alice Cooper's "School's Out." Also taking the "Idol" stage - for the first time ever! - was judge Paula Abdul in a smokey pre-taped performance of her new single, "I'm Just Here for the Music."

Tuesday night's pre-show drama didn't seem to linger during the lead-up to Iraheta's elimination. The behemoth "Idol" logo which toppled over was back - and glowing - in place above the audience. And that moving staircase was also operational Wednesday after a crew member was sent to the hospital following a reported 20-foot fall from the top Tuesday.

However, Seacrest still seemed a little shaken up following all of the tumultuous tumbling, especially after No Doubt singer Gwen Stefani strutted down the steps, behind the judges' table and through the crowd while belting out "I'm Just a Girl" for an elimination episode performance. Seacrest joked she was making him nervous running around the stage.

"It's been a high-risk place this week," he said.

The finalists left in contest are Lambert, a 27-year-old theater actor from San Diego; Gokey, a 29-year-old church music director from Milwaukee; and Allen, a 23-year-old college student from Conway, Ark.

This week, the three singers will travel to their hometowns before performing two songs next week: one of their choosing, another from the show's judges.

The next "Idol" will be crowned May 20.

Sweet and pretty Allison went home before gokey - WHO is voting for Gokey?

Kris is actually very nice to listen to, and arranges the songs in a clever manner. But it is Adam. Adam. Adam. Nothing like him since Elvis!

Go Adam! I hope Americans get that right at least in the final week. Alison should still be there and the caterwauling Danny gone.

Allison will do fine. She has the 50 city summer tour next and will be blessed with a great fan base to sell a record to. GO ALLISON!

I am not a fan of Rock music at the age of 72, but this girl can sing and she can sing anything.
To elimate her before Kris and Danny shows you how stupid this voting system is where people can vote hundred or thousands of times
This Danny as far as I am concerned can't sing at all .
It should have been Adam and Allison in the Final.
However I am sure we hear from that young girl again. She has guts!

Allison is fantastic - - especially for a 17 year old. She definitely has a future. And she kinda personifies and attracts the pre-teen and teen age group. American IDOL ??? No, I don't think so. BUT what is with the freak show AI presents to fill in time??? - - from lady Gaga to Slash to Gwen Stephani (no doubt) - - not much wonder the pre-teens and teens are so messed up with their outlandish clothes, body piercings, weird hair - - copying those they see getting so much attention. So the kids do it too, to get attention - - which the performers do need to do crazy, attention stuff because they are not good - - and the teenagers are also doing it for attention - - maybe not getting enough attention at home..

I was so disappointed that she got booted off, she is very good. I don't really care for the type of music she sings, but she can sing!!! Are we deaf and can't see real God given talent! I sure hope that some agency sucks her up and doesn't let her get away!

Not many people can sing a Janis Joplin song very well. Allison did it very well, period. America definately got it wrong on that vote.

I just can't believe that America is so tone deaf. Really Danny over Allison? Danny sounded like a cat being skinned on that last performance, this is frustrating. I think all the votes for Danny are based on the fact that he lost his wife, this is unfortunate; but lets face it. It's time to move on.
