Levi Pans Bristol's New Message

By
CBSNews
(CBS)  Bristol Palin is now advocating abstinence-only for teens, and the father of her baby son says that's all fine and good, but just isn't "realistic."

On The Early Show Wednesday, Levi Johnston also said things are improving in his relationship with Bristol, as he seeks more time with their son, Tripp.

Bristol's pregnancy became a major issue early in the presidential campaign. Her mother, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, was Sen. John McCain's running mate. Bristol, 18, and Levi, 19, weren't married and have since broken up. Tripp was born Dec. 27.

Bristol was in New York Wednesday to help promote National Teen Pregnancy Awareness Day. She's been named a teen ambassador for The Candie's Foundation, which is sponsoring a town hall about teen pregnancy prevention.

She went on national TV to say she believes abstinence is the best and safest choice for teens.

Johnston told Early Show co-anchor Maggie Rogriguez Wednesday he agrees. "Abstinence is a great idea," he said, "but I also think you need to enforce, you know, condoms and birth control and other things like that to have safe sex. I don't just think telling young kids, you can't have sex, it's not going to work. It's not realistic.

" ... It's a great idea and a great message she's trying to send out to the world and all the young kids. It's not easy raising a baby. But I do think there's more things to it than just not having sex."

Asked if he was using condoms when Tripp was conceived, Johnston said he was, "but there's a few times we didn't, and that's what happened. We had a kid."

skeezix06: I was just saying that you Democrats have your share of politicians who aren't exactly saints, too! One of them is "family man" John Edwards who made everyone think during his campaign that he was so much in love with his wife and children. He promised his wife Elizabeth before they married that he would never cheat on her. He broke his promise! You shouldn't act so high and mighty!

Yeah, once you get the taste of being a "celebrity", I guess it's pretty hard to let go. I wonder what she will come up with next.

Why is anyone listening to this garbage. It's not like their mistake is uncommon, it's happen a few times before. If she wasn't Palins daughter no one would care.

Levi exemplifies the hormonally raging idiot boy who thinks he's a real man and all grown up. I hope he never gets visitation rights. He's a loser boy-father.

Okay, I don't agree with Levi! I totally know saving yourself for marraige is worth it and possible! My husband and I BOTH saved ourselves unti we were married! I think young people are underestimated today. If you tell them they can't stay sex-free, then it makes it that much harder for them to believe it too, but if we encourage abstanance, what can it hurt?! I know plenty of people who saved themselves for marriage! It is WORTH-THE-WAIT!!!! I promise! We've been married seven years and it is still amazing! Nothing is impossible with God! Phil. 4:13 ----

There is no better testimony that this!

If people does the self fulfilling prophecy that it does not work, it will work. Levi is made himself into a fool because he is finding that you can not coherce a girl who believes in abstaining.

I think she's the person who sends out that weird spam. You know, the kind that's 229 words and goes something like this: "night travesty urban oak moonstone vacillate suggest."

That's what I really love about the Palin's. They come with their own built in truth squad. What a bunch of wackjobs.
