Levi Pans Bristol's New Message
Tells Maggie Rodriguez Abstinence-Only Isn't "Realistic" For Teens
-
Levi Johnston on The Early Show Wednesday (CBS)
On The Early Show Wednesday, Levi Johnston also said things are improving in his relationship with Bristol, as he seeks more time with their son, Tripp.
Bristol's pregnancy became a major issue early in the presidential campaign. Her mother, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, was Sen. John McCain's running mate. Bristol, 18, and Levi, 19, weren't married and have since broken up. Tripp was born Dec. 27.
Bristol was in New York Wednesday to help promote National Teen Pregnancy Awareness Day. She's been named a teen ambassador for The Candie's Foundation, which is sponsoring a town hall about teen pregnancy prevention.
She went on national TV to say she believes abstinence is the best and safest choice for teens.
Johnston told Early Show co-anchor Maggie Rogriguez Wednesday he agrees. "Abstinence is a great idea," he said, "but I also think you need to enforce, you know, condoms and birth control and other things like that to have safe sex. I don't just think telling young kids, you can't have sex, it's not going to work. It's not realistic.
" ... It's a great idea and a great message she's trying to send out to the world and all the young kids. It's not easy raising a baby. But I do think there's more things to it than just not having sex."
Asked if he was using condoms when Tripp was conceived, Johnston said he was, "but there's a few times we didn't, and that's what happened. We had a kid."

- skeezix06: I was just saying that you Democrats have your share of politicians who aren't exactly saints, too! One of them is "family man" John Edwards who made everyone think during his campaign that he was so much in love with his wife and children. He promised his wife Elizabeth before they married that he would never cheat on her. He broke his promise! You shouldn't act so high and mighty!

Yeah, once you get the taste of being a "celebrity", I guess it's pretty hard to let go. I wonder what she will come up with next. - Reply to this comment
- was just thinking, when does the video come out? That might be more entertaining.

- Why is anyone listening to this garbage. It's not like their mistake is uncommon, it's happen a few times before. If she wasn't Palins daughter no one would care.

- Levi exemplifies the hormonally raging idiot boy who thinks he's a real man and all grown up. I hope he never gets visitation rights. He's a loser boy-father.

- Levi's next accidental sperm creation will be named Whoops.

- Okay, I don't agree with Levi! I totally know saving yourself for marraige is worth it and possible! My husband and I BOTH saved ourselves unti we were married! I think young people are underestimated today. If you tell them they can't stay sex-free, then it makes it that much harder for them to believe it too, but if we encourage abstanance, what can it hurt?! I know plenty of people who saved themselves for marriage! It is WORTH-THE-WAIT!!!! I promise! We've been married seven years and it is still amazing! Nothing is impossible with God! Phil. 4:13 ----
There is no better testimony that this!

- If people does the self fulfilling prophecy that it does not work, it will work. Levi is made himself into a fool because he is finding that you can not coherce a girl who believes in abstaining.

Just throwing random words together, Pam?

I think she's the person who sends out that weird spam. You know, the kind that's 229 words and goes something like this: "night travesty urban oak moonstone vacillate suggest." - Reply to this comment
- That's what I really love about the Palin's. They come with their own built in truth squad. What a bunch of wackjobs.

Black is white and up is down to CBS. No wonder the ratings of CBS News are in the toilet. - Reply to this comment
- Levi Johnston should go to court, get joint custody, pay child support and hopefully disappear and take all Palins with him. However, if Palin is getting money for public announcements, why shouldn't he make some money too? Again, I wish all would never be heard from again.

- What a jerk this young man is proving to be. And he wonders why the Palin family is reluctant to allow him visitations with his son? He'd be under strict supervised visitations if this was my grandchild.

- Well yeah... today we don't tell young girls that Sex is dirty or that if they mess up that doesn't make them a "bad girl". Surely you aren't proposing we return to those cave dwellers? Honest?

Never mind the media promotes sex-only, forgetting useless **** like love and family (strange, most of these folks belong to the 'family values' republican party...
Well, given that I try to go into detail with "Sex is normal but we also use it as an act of love and we save it for special people and it's just more dignified that way too". People don't want to hear that. Especially on the far-left wing, I hate to say it but it's true.
Back when I was dating men, I was looking to build a life partnership. Apart from 2 people, everybody just wanted to hop into bed.
I think it's a more male problem; the "wham bam thank you now go away and be sure to get tested every 6 months!" mindset that people find acceptable. Gay or straight, it's usually the male that goes to boink everyone because of some bull** sense of entitlement... - Reply to this comment
- JERRY! JERRY! JERRY!
MAURY! MAURY! MAURY!
Reality is what we make of it.
MANY couples could be monogamous in the past. Sounds realistic to me. Why is Levi such a sleazy little wanker?
I actually do feel very sorry for Bristol. She's learning the hard way and I think the point is, let her tell her story so others won't make the same mistake. - Reply to this comment
- Bristol Palin teaching kids about abstinence-only, would be like George Bush teaching Christians about the way Jesus lived.

- -This is garbage. There are plenty of kids in this country who save sexx until marriage. Maybe not as many as in previous generations, but there are still plenty

- I'm concerned about the future of this country when a) this is news and b) Bristol is chosen for anything regarding helping teens prevent pregnancy and c) this young man is given any airtime to voice his opinion. Neither Bristol or Levi belong teaching anybody anything when it comes to safe s.e.x.

So rolling out the daughter of that Air Head of a Governor to promote her religious intolerance is OKAY but interviewing the guy who knocked up the bimbo isn't? LOL - Reply to this comment
