Okla. Bomber Sues Prison For Constipation

The Smoking Gun Web site reports on a lawsuit against his jailers filed by Terry Nichols, the domestic terrorist who teamed up with Timothy McVeigh to murder 168 people in the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing.

According to the court documents on the Smoking Gun Web site, Terry Nichols, 54, says the low-fiber prison diet has given him "chronic constipation, bleeding, hemorrhoids."

This week, a federal judge rejected Nichols's bid for a preliminary injunction against the Bureau of Prisons. A lawsuit filed last month by Nichols is pending.

To support his claim, Nichols solicited testimonials from other high-profile inmates including Eric Rudolph, whose bombs killed victims at abortion clinics and the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta. Rudolph agrees with Nichols, saying "refined and highly processed" food served to killers like him causes "constipation, gas, and stomach cramps."

A truck loaded with 4,000 pounds of ammonium nitrate and fuel oil tore the face off the nine-story Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building on April 19, 1995, and also caused millions of dollars in damage to other structures in parts of downtown Oklahoma City.

Timothy McVeigh and Nichols were convicted of the bomb plot, which prosecutors said was a twisted attempt to avenge the deaths of about 80 people in the government siege at the Branch Davidian compound in Waco, Texas, exactly two years earlier.

McVeigh was convicted on federal murder charges and executed in 2001. Nichols is serving multiple life sentences on federal and state convictions.

Here's the Smoking Gun story and court documents.

The reason you should pay, "feistyjourn", for food and medical care for an inmate in our glorious prison system is this. You say you can't afford proper food and medical care for your own children. I believe you, but you can always look for a better job, the inmates can't. They are trapped, you ae not. If you kept a dog in a cage, you are required to care for it, and see to it's needs. If you can't do that, then you shouldn't put the dog in the cage in the first place. You don't deny a human being basic human rights, just because they did something wrong, no matter what it was. It's not about "what" the inmate did, it's about proper food and medical care, just like you should get, if you would ever become incarcerated. There are not only innocent people in pison, that were railroaded by some over zealous prosecutor looking to make a name for himself, but also a ton of people that never in a million years thought they'ed be in a place like that. An attitude of hate and revenge does nobody any good, and serves no purpose. Think of it this way, if someone you know or loved had the misfortune to end up in prison for whatever reason, wouldn't you want them to recieve proper food and medical care ? Of course you would. We in the good ol U.S. of A. like to think we're the best and most civilized country in the world, well are we, are we really ? If we are, then we need to act like it. I worked as a state prison guard for a little over eight years, and I saw first hand what goes on in the prison system. The lack of concern and proper care, is sometimes appalling. A judge sentenced these inmates to "do time", that's all , just "time". They were never sentenced to go without proper food and medical care. In this country, the so called most civilized country in the world, basic human rights (just the basics) should never be overlooked. Now, go out and get yourself a better job, so you can afford proper food and medical care for your kids. I wish you all the luck in the world, but I think your attitude needs a little fine tuning. An attitude of "hate" and "revenge" , will eat you up.

The type of food Inmate Nichols describes can cost a lot more than white bread, potatoes, and iceberg lettuce.

I know nutrition-dense, high-fiber foods are better for health, but like most middle-income folks I can't consistently buy this type of food even for *my own family*!

Why should I help pay for this mouth-breather to have what my own children can't have?

Sign up Terry Nichols to be the shower boy and pick up the soap bars in the shower.

I am sure some of the other inmates can help Terry Nichols with his Constipation problem.

Like it's going to disrupt their daily lives. Cramps, gas, and constipation are a part of life! Boo-Hoo, too bad for you. At least you feel the cramps and gas, those whom you have killed, feel nothing.

Hook him and anyone else complaining to old Sparky, set the voltage low, light current too, turn it on for about 60 seconds at perhaps about three fourths of an Amp. Do this about once a week, and by the way, make him clean up the mess as well...sheesh what blenderhead....

You would think that after ten years in prison constipation would not be a problem.
