Octomom: Inheritance Used For In Vitro

(AP)  Nadya Suleman, the mother of octuplets and six other children, said she spent at least $24,000 on the in vitro fertilization procedures that led to her first four babies.

Suleman told celebrity magazine Life & Style Weekly that she saved money for the procedures that cost about $6,000 each by working 16-hour days as a psychiatric technician.

When her aunt died, Suleman said she used an undisclosed portion of her $30,000 inheritance to conceive twins. Leftover eggs from that in vitro pregnancy were frozen until she used them to give birth to the octuplets.

Suleman did not give financial details about the octuplets, though in vitro fertilization using frozen eggs is generally cheaper.

"Maybe it was selfish; I'm the first to admit that. Maybe putting in all the eggs was a mistake, but all I've ever wanted is a huge family," said Suleman, according to a transcript of the interview provided by the magazine.

After an on-the-job injury, Suleman collected more than $165,000 in state disability payments.

Suleman, 33, an unemployed single mother, has been trailed by the paparazzi and endured much public scorn in the weeks since the octuplets were born prematurely on Jan. 26.

In the interview, Suleman vowed to protect the identity of the sperm donor but said she would like him to be part of the children's lives. She approached the donor several years ago to help her have children and "year after year, he kept helping me."

She would not say whether they were lovers in the past but acknowledged the donor was upset when he found out she wanted more children after already having six.

"He was upset when I did it again. He said the same thing everyone else did: `You have six beautiful children - why do you want more?"' she recalled.

The issue containing the eight-page spread hits newsstands in New York and Los Angeles on Wednesday and nationally on Friday. The interview was conducted Saturday at Suleman's new home in La Habra.

Life and Style Weekly did not pay for the interview, said Letena Lindsay, vice president of corporate communications of Bauer Publishing Group, which publishes the magazine.

Suleman said the octuplet births were painful.

"With that many babies, it feels like your insides are being torn apart," she said.

Seven of the eight babies have been discharged from the hospital. The last baby, Jonah, who was born with a small cleft on his lip, has to gain more weight before he can go home.

Every penny she made or got through loans, inheritances, donations, disability, etc should all be confiscated and she should be made to repay the hospital bills, repay disability, and repay every single loan--all of that...before one red cent goes to nails, toys or bubble lips.

Suleman says her son hit his eye when he threw himself on the floor, reports Early Show national correspondent Hattie Kauffman.

"He has meltdowns; it's normal to have meltdowns. He throws himself down. So, in the process of throwing himself on the floor, he hit his face on the desk," Suleman told the Website Radaronline.com.

As for the bite mark, Suleman pointed a finger at the four-year-old's two-year-old brother who, she told Radaronline, tends to get aggressive.

Amateur. She should have gone with one of the younger kids and the 4 yr old got into a nasty fight, and rhe 4 yr old got socked and bit. which kid? Why no marks on them? Because the 4 yr old refused to hit the 3 month old preemie back. That's why?

Notice how the story changed from getting a black eye from falling on the floor, to falling on a corner of the desk on the way to the floor? Drs should be able to tell the difference from a conrusion caused by a sharp desk corner (there will be the most severe injury at the center withthe rest radiating out...and blunt force trauma which should all have the same level of trauma.

Hit his face on a desk and got a black eye? Could have put his eye out--highly unlikely story. The other kids are very aggressive? Are they getting raised in that home or just herded? Pity the other kids who have to go to school with her brood.

hehe heheh. first it was just from working for a few years as a psych tech...not enough money? Okay then...it was from the work AND disability settlement? What? abuse of funds? What do you mean how did she raise her kids? ....uhm...student loans..yeah...that's the ticket...student loans and settlement...and lots of savings...what? Oh all those kids cost about 100 grand....

what? It doesn't add up? Her mom said Octo never bought food, clothes or even diapers for the kids? Just toys? Occasionally? the old house is in foreclosure? Numbers still aren't adding up? she gets foodstamps and disability checks too...

Still not enough...okay then..she got an inheritance.... taxes? Wait! what is nontaxable? 'cuz that is what she got. Nadya--the quintessential...pathological....liar.

"...always insists on driving. I never allow myself to be driven anywhere by a man, as it is a social statement of who "really" is in charge."

That's a very sad commentary that actually demonstrates one's LACK of self-esteem. A woman who is truly secure in herself wouldn't be threatened by such a trivial thing as having a man drive while she's the passenger.

Any slow news day, this poor lady skirt is lifted by the evil man driven media. Shame.

to PW: you claim that men are put down by their spouses, even as they make sooo much money ?? That is so absurd that it does not justify a response. Who is driving the car in your home when you go somewhere ?? I always insists on driving. I never allow myself to be driven anywhere by a man, as it is a social statement of who "really" is in charge.
Next: So you think women do not have a right to 1/2 and more of the money at the time that she wants to "move on " ? Who put you as the holder of the chain through her nose ???
I teach my class for one whole unit the concepts of REPARATIONS - that is what is owed to peoples of color, minorities, and ALL WOMEN. due to the societal mis appropriation of funds thru labor of generations past. I hope that one day all women will have a stipend from the gov't, allowing them to be free of anxiety, follow poems and dreams where it may take them, but not be shaddled and shakled to either stove, home or children.
Please consider this - Next time let your wife drive !

More lies. IVF costs way more than $6000. I know because my husband and I had to go through it and shopped around because of the expense. The medication alone costs about that. The procedure is upwards of $10,000 w/OUT the, extremely expensive, medication that is needed. About $15000 total per attempt. If someone called the clinic to find out how much IVF costs it would prove she's lying. Pathological iars tend to think people always believe them no matter how absurd their lies are. She's backpeddling trying to explain how she spent probably $100,000 on continuous IVFs wihe on SSI, food stamps, and medicaid. It's called FRAUD. My husband and I barely could afford ONE IVF attempt, and we do NOT qualify for food stamps, and medicaid. They should make an example out of this con woman and prosecute her to the fullest extent of the law. She's a shrewd con woman who's been playing us all and using innocent children for money. Make her pay back her million plus dollar hospitall bills that hard working taxpayers had to foot the bill for! Call meedical, food stamps, and SSI fraud hotlines to complain and demand an investigation.
