(CBS)  The Early Show series "Early Across America" highlights ways to have fun during these tough economic times.

High ticket prices are hurting some amusement parks, but Six Flags believes they are in a perfect position to ride out this rollercoaster economy, CBS News correspondent Mark Strassmann reports from Arlington, Texas.

Strassmann visited the original Six Flags amusement park outside of Dallas, which opened back in 1961.

Six Flags, which touts itself as "the world's largest regional theme park company," thinks that even in this down economy, it's doing okay. But at the same time, it's on a possible track for bankruptcy.

Strassmann highlighted the challenges Six Flags faces with 20 parks and 32,000 full and part-time employees.

Six Flags Inc. has made some good moves over the last few years. Though their attendance is still lower then it was from 200 to 2005. The adults for Kids price promotion helps with the parks over all value. Though Six Flags is far from a good value if money is tight. Living in New England I have a Six Flags ride in my back yard so to speak. I now only go to parks with friends but also with family. Six Flags New England is the most expensive park in the area.If you have Children Story Land and Santa's village are far better values. if your older Lake Compounce is right down teh road. There is also Canobie Lake Park in NH which sports a larger ride count then Six Flags New England. Local Competition will be very strung with family avoiding large scale trips for local day trips.
