Jeff Czech, a lawyer for Suleman, told Early Show co-anchor Harry Smith his client doesn't need the nurses from Angels in Waiting, because of the nannies she currently employs, adding that the Angels nurses were against Suleman from the beginning.
"Her primary complaint was that, basically, A.I.W. was this Trojan rocking horse, and out popped these nurses," Czech said. "They were not on her side."
Gloria Allred, the attorney for Angels in Waiting, denies that the nurses were trying to set Suleman up.
"These are trained pediatric nurses with tremendous experience," she said. "There were there to try and help her, to support her."
Allred also claims Suleman would only spend time with the babies when cameras were rolling and that she went out shopping instead of caring for her children. Czech says the allegations are untrue, but acknowledges that the extra help from the nurses and nannies did gave Suleman a bit of free time.
"That's why the nurses are there," he added. "To help her out with the babies."
Before any of the octuplets even left the hospital, Allred filed a complaint with child welfare officials asking them to investigate whether Suleman could provide a suitable living environment for her 14 children. A nurse filed another complaint after the media frenzy that occurred when the first two of the octuplets went home. And Suleman had believed that the founder of Angels in Waiting was going to file yet another report over the weekend, escalating the tensions that led her to sever ties with the group earlier this week. According to Allred, the nurses were simply doing their jobs.
"Apparently, Nadya does not understand that a nurse is a legally mandated reporter," she said. "That is, a nurse is required by law to report to authorities if they believe a baby or a child in their care is in danger, at risk, at harm, or neglected."
"They are the voice, the ears of these babies," she continued. "And they need to be able to protect them."

- I think that it is sad what everyone is doing here. While I have friends who don't believe in birthcontrol and have 10-14 kids, they don't have welfare at all. They dont' believe in goverment programs. They homeschool their kids and pay taxes anyway.
I think we barrage her and other mothers of multiples and then criticize them for taking the gifts they receive, like nannies. The woman just gave birth to 8 babies. Maybe she needs some extra rest. I had 1 and needed a month or 2 to recover! As for the people who were in her house it seems they definately had an agenda if the head of it filed a claim BEFORE the babies were even in the home. The nurses made complaints about the security yet there are many shows on tv which feature multiples families and they have had no need for extra added security.
Also, it seems we all want to criticize this because we feel she can't care for the babies. Maybe we should be taking more care to look at the millions of families who are literally starving their children and locking them in basements. I was neglected, sexually abused, and physically abused for most of my life. No one ever even noticed even though my school, myself, and other parents called the stupid DCF. If you ask me, we need to be investing more time in the welfare of the other kids in small homes than adding to this OBVIOUS media tactic. The more drama they add to this story the more news papers it will sell, the better rating it will get. you ask me it's all a stupid farce. - Reply to this comment
- Besides that, the only person who "should" be raising funds for Nadya's children is NADYA. She's the one who made the choice to bring children she couldn't afford into this world. She is the one who should be ensuring their security, since this entire situation is of her (and only her) doing. No one OWES her a dime, nor should they be made to feel guilty that they're not giving her enough money or time when they're already doing it voluntarily out of the goodness of their own hearts!!!!....all to cover HER irrational choices.

- "they should instead be trying to raise funds to obtain security for the children and to take care of the children and give nadya a little bit of a break -"
Ummmmm.....that's exactly what they WERE doing, lisaduncan2. Problem was that Nadya was nowhere to be found on way too many occasions. They are not there to be her slaves, just waiting for her to pop in once or twice a day to coo over the babies while the cameras are taping and snapping pictures.
I'm no fan of Gloria Allred....she's loud and obnoxious. Most of the time, she "sides" with the more controversial side (surprising in this case that she didn't choose to champion Nadya, in fact)....but she's right in this case. She's looking out for the welfare of those babies. Nadya couldn't care less, it would seem. She's too concerned with public appearances and her own vanity than with being a mother. She has more free time than most mothers of a SINGLE newborn who only had one or two other children before bringing a new baby home. She has SIX older children, 3 of whom have special needs.....all on top of EIGHT newborns who require special care due to being multiple preemies. She should be in that house with them 24/7, especially during this, the most crucial time of their development.
Nadya would deserve a little bit of a break, IF SHE ACTUALLY STAYED HOME AND TOOK CARE OF HER OWN CHILDREN. - Reply to this comment
- it sure seems to me that unfortunately gloria allred and the nurses are out to prove a point rather than to help. there is no one individual who is physically, emotionally able to care for so many children, and we all know that. however, instead of trying to disparage nadya in the public, they should instead be trying to raise funds to obtain security for the children and to take care of the children and give nadya a little bit of a break - it can't be easy for her

- Clear and undeniable, Nadya is a narcissist.
Narcissistic personality disorder (NPD) is a personality disorder defined by the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, the diagnostic classification system used in the United States, as "a pervasive pattern of grandiosity, need for admiration (she new she would get lots of PR with this birth session), and a lack of empathy (she doesn't care about the individual welfare of her children)."
Narcissism describes the trait of excessive self-love (she gets an expensive tub that may one day prove deadly to one of the children whom she already can not keep track of), based on self-image or ego (in her mind she is convinced she is a great mom) .
In psychology and psychiatry, excessive narcissism is recognized as a severe personality dysfunction or personality disorder. The terms narcissism, narcissistic, and narcissist are often used as pejoratives, denoting vanity, conceit, egotism or simple selfishness. Applied to a social group, it is sometimes used to denote elitism or an indifference to the plight of others (her own children).
The narcissist is described as turning inward for gratification (bear lots of children to love her/treats them like prize pets) rather than depending on others and as being excessively preoccupied with issues of personal adequacy, power and prestige (she thinks she resembles Anjolina). Narcissistic personality disorder is closely linked to self-centeredness.
Child protective services should take them all. - Reply to this comment
- There are other families with a large number of children who are NOT a burden on the tax payer system. Ms. Suleman acts as though she is entitled to what she wants, regardless of the cost to her children or others.

- "....but she has every right to raise her own children. "--Posted by mkm99 at 7:17 PM
Not if she has demonstrated that she CAN'T raise them due to her own mental illness or inability to provide for them, she doesn't. Parents give up that right when they place their children in serious danger or can't provide for them financially. She has already put her children in serious jeopardy too many times to count. She is incapable of the care that they NEED. What's it going to take? A dead baby to prove it??? - Reply to this comment
- LIB55,
It would be cheaper in the long run for the children to be placed into (permanent) ADOPTIVE homes.....not foster homes.
But it's not really even about that. It's about what's best for the CHILDREN. Being placed for adoption is what's best for them, based on how their incubator acts, thinks, speaks. - Reply to this comment
- I'm not the least bit surprised. Every time Nadya Suleman speaks, she only provides further evidence that she is mentally ill and has the mindset of a child herself. (Did anyone HEAR her recorded phone statements on today's Dr. Phil show??!!!)
Nadya: You need to be spending at least an hour a day with EACH newborn. You need to be spending at least 1-2 hours per day with EACH of your older children. That adds up to 14-20 hours per day focusing on YOUR CHILDREN, instead of on yourself. You don't have time for that, you say?.....Then stop going shopping all the time!!!!!! Motherhood is about sacrifice, not about focusing so much time and money on yourself and your own whims and desires. Too much you say???....then you should have thought that through BEFORE you intentionally made more babies in a petri dish.
And back to the shopping thing.....when you DO go, the ONLY things you should be buying are outright necessities: basic toiletries for yourself, household supplies like food, toilet paper, laundry detergent, diapers, etc. You have no business even setting foot into upscale clothing stores or cosmetics counters. LIVE WITHIN YOUR MEANS....you still have past bills you haven't paid. Until they are paid in full, you should be buying clothes, etc. at discount stores, thrift shops, etc. That's what the rest of the world does when money is tight, instead of begging for handouts then splurging on luxuries. You have not EARNED the right to buy yourself any luxuries.
You are HURTING your children with your current, chosen lifestyle. Please, for their sake, STOP IT!!!!!! Sad that you don't understand that the nurses and nannies are there for your children.....to protect their welfare.....NOT FOR YOU. - Reply to this comment
- ...as it was the doctors and their needle that inseminated this woman those very same doctors should be sued by the state of California for paternal support.
A needle or a pen1s...same difference...those doctors that "knocked Her up" should be financially responsible as the father[s]...and I'll bet dollars to donuts that this kind of fiasco never happens again!

- You might not like Ms. Suleman's attorney, Jeff Czech, but I watched him on Dr. Phil today and he handled Ms. Allred in a very peaceful manner, unlike her inability to contain herself in a professional manner and...
Sad to say, the Angel in Waiting's spokes person took on the same leech spirit that Ms. Allred has and I sat and was reminded that attorneys are good actors, and then there are those who are good actorsand good at drama and lying, or lying and drama -- heck the two seem to blur the line and my vision and seem to appear as one -- one big lie. Somehow, I found it hard to believe a word Ms. Allred and the spokes person from Angels in Waiting spewed as the truth and believable. I think Ms. Allred has met her match in attorneys -- bravo Mr. Czech!
Let's get back to the reality of the situation, Ms. Suleman and the 14 children...
It's cheaper in the long haul, to keep the children together then to split them up and place them in out-of-home placement with perhaps 8 to 14 different non-relative foster parents at the cost of perhaps $800.00 per child per month for how long a time in California's Welfare system. I am not sure what their monthly subsudy are, but in Maryland, an infant such as Suleman's would be consider Intermediate Care at $950.00 per month. So at about $800.00 x 8 infants per month, and with 2 of the 6 older kids as special need, another $800.00 per child and regular rate for the remaining 4 children, over at least 6 month intervals per child, taking into consideration that Ms. Suleman would have court dates gazillion per child, and if the Welfare operates like here, every 6 month follow up, per child -- in a foster parent's home -- do the math!
It's cheaper to help her build her village then to snatch these children out her home. All she needs is some real good hearted people around her to her her get her life together so she can be a wise Mom with success before her...
If it ever got to the point of TPR = terminating her parental rights -- tax payers would still bare the burden of taking care of her 14 children.
Help her! - Reply to this comment
- Nadya Suleman is an Irresponsible, Nascissistic Personality Disordered being, that does not deserve to have children. She already has six. But since those Six children did not have an ability to promote a media blitz, she artificially had Octuplets in order to create more commotion. It doesn't help either that she's proving more of her irresponsibility even more.
Did you hear that statement of his lawyer that she only went shopping because she has free time when the nannies are there, to counteract a statement that Nadya only takes care of her child when the cameras are rolling? EXACTLY THE POINT. A real mother would have let another do the shopping, or at least BRING THE CHILDREN with her along with the nannies if she really was that responsible!! - Reply to this comment
- Bounce the nurses out the door. There is no law that says she "must" have them in her home. It is a gift to her...

Actually, they were a gift for the children, not to Nadya. She didn't realize that either. - Reply to this comment
- Czech is a pig! This is his million dollar case, but who's paying this woman has not money except for the state aid she gets for the children.
I that what is paying him??? If so then he is just as bad, what is worse is he know she is mentally deranged and cannot support ANY of her kids so he will bilk this for all its worth.
I have lost all respect for Dr. Phil! Gloria Allred needs to turn this over to Child Protective Services and walk away!!
We all know CBS is paying big time to do all these indepth interviews and photos in the house!
She wanted the attention she got it - I just hope everyone can live with themselves when her lunacy harms one of these kids!
Again the general public should keep calling Child Service until they do something, but knowing how that works we will read about a life or death emergency for one or more of these kids before they wake up and remove them. - Reply to this comment
- Bounce the nurses out the door. There is no law that says she "must" have them in her home. It is a gift to her, but a gift does not have to be accepted or used. Those that are fighting to remain in her home are crossing a line that should not be. Granted that if there is a problem, the nurses must report it, but they have no standing to remain if the mother does not want them there.

- I am so tired of Nadya. She cannot afford ANY children...now she has 14! It isn't as if she got pregnant the "old fashioned way". This was her choice... without a means of support for herself even. She is basking in all of this publicity. Her lawyer would intimidate me. How did she get him? And who pays him? Even Dr. Phil is no longer interested in Nadya after milking her popularity to the max. Let her become obscure....just have child protection services check on those children!

- You can bet someone is paying and i hope its not the news media. Like I said she is a leech. And you do know she is getting aid from the state of cali dont you. Can you imagime how much she is getting? Alot and not just from the state. I bet she is getting money secretly because whoever it is weather it be a church or the media they certainky dont want us the public to know because they know we would be outraged. She let them turkey bast her then let her provide all by herslef for these children and then when she cant ...take them..Please take them. And female that has done what she has done inst right in there mind, they just arent there is just no disputing that fact. I cant stand watching her speak because she is so defensive and i see those lips she paid for by the calis state money because she sure didnt have a job at the time. many of you go ahead and take up for her. But are you willing to open your pocket book and suport her and all those kids, are you willing to donate your time for nanny care. i bet not. And do you live in her state thats going to pay for this...most of you dont but yet you want to take up for her. Thos kids are really going to suffer. I mean come on she was letting them be up at 2 am ...what life is that for them. Im a very out spoken person and she honestly makes me sick to my stomach. She isnt a mother...she just had these fantasies and its going to soon come to reality and come down on her and she will snap. What do we do when she snaps? And when she does...will it be so bad so poor inicent baby or child is going to be rushed to a hospita or even yet dead and then we the tax payers again will see her court. Can people not see any future here. Who the He!! can take care and pay for that many kids and be sane? No One. She has a flippin day care in her house. She should have to have a daycare License wit that many children under one roof. Im tired of geting by with this. Its not right. Those poor little kids.
