U.S.: 34 Militants Killed In Afghanistan

Afghan and international forces killed 34 militants in two days of clashes in Afghanistan, U.S. forces said Friday.

Thirty of the deaths occurred during a firefight that broke out Thursday when Afghan army and U.S.-coalition troops came under attack in southern Helmand province, the U.S. said in a statement.

The troops were patrolling in a militant-heavy area of Greshk district when they were attacked by gunfire and rocket-propelled grenades, and returned fire, the U.S. said. The troops confirmed there were no civilians in the area before counter-attacking and calling in air support, the statement said.

The operation also destroyed a cache of bomb equipment, the U.S. said.

One Afghan soldier was injured during the operation, the statement said.

On Friday, Afghan and coalition forces killed three militants and captured one in eastern Logar province when fighting broke out during a raid targeting a bomb-making cell, a separate U.S. statement said.

Meanwhile, one militant was killed in a raid to disrupt a bomb-making network in the eastern border province of Kunar, the U.S. said.

The fighting follows the death Thursday of an Australian service member in southern Oruzgan province, NATO forces said. The bomb disposal expert died while trying to defuse a makeshift device. It was Australia's second death in the Central Asian country in a week.

The war to nowhere is right. 30 militants? I want transparency. I want names, ages, and factual connections to terrorism. During all wars the US was involved in, imagine we've never stopped warring. French and Indian War, Revolutionary War, War of 1812, Spanish American War, WWI, WWII, Korean Conflict, Vietnam Conflict, Gulf War, Desert Storm, Iraq and the beat goes on. and we are a peaceful nation? Back to the concept of maybe these 30 deaths were civilians in the wrong place at the wrong time? All during our warring years if we didn't have a major victory, we invented one. If you have been to Afghanistan you know the blogger is correct. These roads are unpaved. There are more caves and tube paths than tunnels in Vietnam. Let Allah sort them out? You really are a blood thirsty Christian, the kind that give Christ a bad name. Don't get angry when the islam say bomb America and let God sort them out. This is a war to nowhere and for no purpose other than control and access just like panama to the greedy elite's need for more oil and natural resources. No change here buddy.

Why allow a massive militarization of Afghanistan? Police technology and SWAT Teams would easily solve this situation. The Militants are interested in terror and trafficking. It makes better sense to control and capture these Felons.
