Interactive Sports Doping Find out more about drug testing and performance-enhancing drugs.
Many of them were athletes.
In Part Two on Wednesday of her report on an Early Show investigation, CBS News correspondent Kelly Cobiella says many of the high school athletes know the steroids they use to try to bulk up and enhance their performance are illegal.
But -- many don't.
They're ingesting what they think are perfectly legal supplements. Instead, says one expert interviewed by Cobiella, the pills are really steroids masquerading as supplements.
The expert adds, "I want parents to know that these are highly dangerous anabolic drugs. ... They make you big and strong, but underneath, they cause all kinds of problems."
Cobiella pointed out that certain words buried in the fine print of such substances could tip off potential purchasers to their actual contents.
Here is Part Two of her report:

- This is a completely biased opinion on the use of "Tren". The only reason why I took the supplement is because my friend showed be the product, and he is in the Army. A majority of our armed forces are using Tren with their daily workout. Im not saying that it is the healthiest thing to take, but neither having McDonalds 3 times a day for a week is either. All I have to say is, take it in moderation, and also take the cycle assist, clean your liver, and use estrogen blockers. Just like Creatine, it has its side effects, but if you take the right actions while on the supplement you can stay healthy and look great.

- steroids exist to help people out who suffer from illnesses like muscular distrophy, aids, anemia and so on. i dont understand how steroids can be so bad for healthy hard working men but are miracle drugs for sick people. the worst part about this is all of the uneducated people who take things like "tren" and ruin it for everyone else just because they dont know what they're doing. yeah your kidneys are probably going to hurt if you take any supplement and not drink enough water. these high school kids think that they can eat chips, pizza and soda all day long and it wont matter. the word steroid is so misused its sickening. steroids are Synthetic versions of hormones that your body produces naturally. if you or your daughter is uses birth control guess what, thats a steroid. so if the real anabolic steroid called "trenbolone" is a synthetic oil based steroid that can only be used by injecting directly into the muscle, how do u turn that into a powder, put it in a capsule and be taken orally like "xtreme tren?" figure that one out and get back to me. i understand if youre a concerned parent of a high school kid that wants to take it, but if you want accurate information about supplements please dont listen to the uneducated people on the news and dont just get your info from one source either.

- My son is a student at Eunice High and I can assure you - there is a HUGE steriod problem at this school. My son was given a bottle of injectable steriods at school and I thank god that he let us know and didn't take them. However, he does want to take Tren - to get "cut" as he refers to it. I know many of his friends who take the supplement. These kids think that because it's a "legal" steriod, it can't be bad for you. Yes, you have to be 18 to legally purchase this, but don't think for a moment that there aren't coaches, parents and plenty of 18 yr olds out there who purchase these for our kids. They have NO problem getting access to Tren - or injectable steriods for that matter. I applaud the St. Landry Parish Sherrif's Department for their crackdown on this problem and I would encourage the parents and law enforcement of Eunice, LA to do the same.

- the media is flat out ignorant on the subject. it blows me away at the crap i hear regarding steroids. lyle alzado didnt die from them, the whooten (sp?) kid from texas didnt die from them-he was depressed and on anti depressants before he ever used steroids just to name a few. the AMA and DEA never wanted them banned to begin with. if they are sooo terrible for you then why did both these organizations not want them banned back in '89??? hey media-try interviewing john ramano, dave palumbo, rick collins and get the truth about steroids and their affects. for god's sake, report the truth for once!!!!

- I don't see the big deal about testosterone-based steroids. If I could find them, I'd take 'em, simply because I have a testosterone deficiency that my ignorant doctors never tried to fix.
Anyway, about this story...

- clowry1611 you are a moron. Lyle Alzedo's brain tumor was not caused by using AAS. Even his own doctor publically made that clear.
Not to mention that it's likely more safe using AAS than it is playing football.
While I won't deny that nobody under 21 should be even fathoming using Ph's or AAS, but healthy adult males who do extensive research and are mature enough to know what they are dealing with, these substances can be relatively harmless.
There have been no cases where death is directly linked to the use of AAS, if there was I can't imagine how steroids are saving people with muscular distrohpy, AIDS, HIV adn people over 50 who want to enjoy life.
I'll say this again, there are far worse things a person can introduce to their body besides anabolic steroids. But nobody bothers to report them.
435,000 people die from Tobacco Use Annually
365,000 people die from Physical Inactivity, Poor Diet and Obesity Annually
How about reporting that? - Reply to this comment
- Think you are safe because you are not taking supplements.? WRONG.

- all anyone needs to do to decide against using these substances is watch video tape footage of Lyle Alzado in his first couple of years of the NFL (pre drugged) and then look at the footage of the last interview he gave before he succumbed to brain cancer.

- I graduated from Eunice High School a few years ago and I can assure all of you that more than half of the football team while I was there was taking steroids or other
"supplements" like Tren to get an edge on the rest of the team. Just in the video where she asks if steroids were a problem, I could easily identify 10+ that are or have used these supplements, so don't think it was just that one honest guy that raised his hand. I remember my junior year in the playoffs at one of the weekend workouts one of the coaches offered to buy us Creatine, or other supplements. The problems, not just with steroids, at that school are way out of hand. - Reply to this comment
- when people tell you something publicly there's often a fertile 'grain of truth' to the message saying..."run! get on the plane and never get in this position again" we need to hear and ACT!!! if not throwing $$$ and pills at it is THE WAR.
should america east or west play dumb at the top?
DRUGS and sex/power have absolutely no connection. you're born with everthing but advice,,, - Reply to this comment

- When I owned a Karate and Nautilus facility in the 80's, I would have someone ask me for steroids almost every week. Almost every month someone would call on me offering to sell them to me for my members. I never bought or sold any because, even then, I knew the risks involved. I would never offer or obtain anything for members that I would not take myself.

- lol,, extreme tren is NOT trenebolone ,, its not even close, its and other supplements that use the name are fkn scams and will not do anything like the real anabolic steroid. This old doctor has no clue,, i gurantee his test did not pull up a 19nor string.

- actually its the exact opposite, love when writers that have no clue about actual steroids put this ***** out there. Most supplements try to make it seem like there steroids, not the other way around.
