R&B singer and dancer faces charges and career woes

(CBS)  Several well-known women, hearing she may be back with boyfriend Chris Brown, are urging her to heed history, and patterns of male batterers. Brown is charged with beating her.

It's unclear whether singing star Rihanna will testify against boyfriend Chris Brown if the R&B star goes on trial on charges he beat her.

But some well-known women are voicing concern over Rihanna's well-being in light of widespread reports that she and Brown have reconciled.

Celebrity Web site TMZ's Harvey Levin says Rihanna and Brown have even been recording together, a duet.

And all this is raising eyebrows.

On CNN's "Larry King Live," Robin Givens, ex-wife of boxer Mike Tyson, said, "It's hard to sit here, it's very difficult."

Givens says she was repeatedly abused by Tyson.

"You have to be careful," she cautioned. "You're not 'fighting' with a man. A man is hitting you. You're not 'fighting." '

Oprah Winfrey went even further on her show, warning Rihanna that, "Love doesn't hurt. And if a man hits you once, he WILL hit you again."

And Denise Brown, sister of the late Nicole Brown Simpson, slain wife of O.J. Simpson, went further still, saying, "If they hit you once they'll hit you again, and if they ever threaten to kill you, eventually, one day they will."

Brown was also on CNN's "Larry King Live."

TMZ reports it was a text message from Brown's manager, sexual in nature, that set everything off.

Says TMZ's Levin, "Rihanna sees this message, which is basically saying, 'Let's hook up later,' she goes ballistic, she slaps him, she hits him, and he fires back and allegedly beats the ever-loving you know what out of her."

Denise Brown said, "I don't care what she does, you do not hit! It is unacceptable."

Chris Brown is slated to enter a plea on the assault charges against him next month.

What is so great about Chris Brown? Why is she putting up with this? He should be history. What goes on in a woman's brain?

So she slapped him. If you're a man, you can handle being slapped/hit by a woman like Rihanna. Not like she's Muhammad Ali's daughter. Don't try to defend this loser Chris by saying he was defending himself. Come on now. Gimme a break.

Start making better choices when it comes to men. Lots of fish in the sea. You don't have to put up with losers, thugs, ex-felons, punks, etc. Respect yourself.

You all are so passive aggressive. You do not know the extent of their relationship to label Rihanna as battered and Chris as a batterer.

Most battered women don't go around punching or slapping their batterer.
And, it doesn't surprise me that you all are so quick to ban to young teens who have an unique opportunity to learn, get help, and change. Just castrate them. I'm sick that most of you think this this act warrant the loss of two young people career.

And, I don't wan to hear a man should not hit a woman.....most recently the NFL player stabbed in the neck by his girlfriend.

Nobody was outraged or catstated when

Paris Hilton--- she could have killed someome
LindsayLohan ----no explanation needed
Kid Rock--assault crime during the MTV award and up for a Nick award, too (same category as Chris Brown)
Brittnany Spear---neglect of CHILDREN
TI ---guns could kill somebody
RKelly--had sexual assault case against a teen
PDiddy--involved in a shooting along side of Jennifer Lopez and a woman who brutally shot
Keifer Sutherland---he could 've killed somebody...DUI, I bet you love watching "24"
James Brown----you all mourned the batterer ("FREE James Brown), and adored him.
Eminem----charged with dometic violence and assault
David Hasseloff----you know the story of the knightrider.

Don't be so double standard. All crimes are hedious, not just Domestic Violence or abuse. If you're going to boycott and bash, bash and boycott all of them.

He's the only heterosexual man in the world who wants to be with you, Rihanna.
I don't care what Chris Baby does to you. I don't care if he hits you with a baseball bat & one of your eyeballs fall out, you need to stick with him. A WOMAN NEEDS A MAN!!!!!!!!!!!

Ain't love grand?

Cas2dy: So, if your daughter came home beaten, you would advise her to stick it out. You know, it worked out for you...why not for her as well? You are speaking like a TRUE VICTIM.

engymass2: Women can be abusers too. Dont liken it to a bomb though. No one deserves violence. If someone provokes you, its probably time to find a new relationship.

I can't believe you people say she deserved it or it's a black thing or that he'll kill her next time be real about this, this behavior is learned and it's a choice whether she hit him or not hit like a man get hit like a man he isnt hurt or sorry he went overboard and beat the living sh__@ out of her. in that case he should have walked away that takes a real man and chris is not the gay thing yeah prolly she will prolly stay but this isn't a life long thing and she should realize that and is this a guy she would have kids with is that how she wants to raise a family I really think he needs the living hell beat out of him. Really did she hurt him that bad she is a little girl how hard can she hit like he couldnt block it and get away I am not trying to justify her but men are bigger that woman and can do way more damage this guy is messed up I hope he sits in jail for a while. I slapped my girlfriend once didn't leave a mark I am sure it hurt but wasnt even red I regret it and the first thing I did was got help with a anger issue did he? I got charged becuase she called the cops because I was drunk and wouldnt leave I went to bed that was the end. The cops came and drug me out of bed and took me to jail she asked them to take me to my grandma's to sleep till I was sober then I could come home she didn't want me to go to jail and didnt know til I got out she thought I left her. Whats up with that.
