Wu: Doll Play Inspired Obama Gown
Fashion designer Jason Wu says the inauguration ball dress he designed for President Barack Obama's wife, Michelle, grew out of his childhood fascination with dolls.
The Taiwan native told Hong Kong's South China Morning Post's Sunday magazine the crystal-encrusted silk dress "comes from designing for dolls, where everything is so small."
Wu, who set up his fashion label from the money he earned selling dolls, said he still makes dolls.
