(CBS)  Police confirm they have thousands of e-mails, text messages and records of cell phone calls between Travis and Jodi right up until the day of the murder. But that doesn’t necessarily mean that Jodi was getting all of Travis’ attention.

“We'd won a trip to Cancun. It's all expenses paid," says Chris. “He had asked another gal that he'd been seeing if she would go with him and she had agreed.”

They were scheduled to leave on that trip just days after Jodi’s visit; a fact that Chris believes may have pushed Jodi to extremes.

“I can see Travis being Travis and saying, 'Look, you wanna show up at my house in the middle of the night and do this? Fine. But you're not my girlfriend. I've made that clear. You're never gonna be my girlfriend and I'm not taking you to Mexico. And I'm taking so and so to Mexico.' And-- wrong answer,” he says.

But again, Jodi says that’s just not true. "That Cancun trip -- that really just makes me roll my eyes, because we had both known about the Cancun trip for over a year. And never once was it discussed that I would be going with him.”

Regardless of what Jodi says, the prosecutor is confident enough in his case that he has chosen to seek the death penalty.

“I know that I won't be the first person to be wrongly convicted, and possibly wrongly sentenced for either life in prison or the death penalty," she says. "Personally, if I had my choice, I would take the death penalty because I don't want to spend the rest of my life in prison.”

Jodi’s lawyer is hoping to save her from having to face that choice by having her evaluated for a possible insanity defense.

Is she crazy? Not according to Flores. "No, she calculated this completely.”

"I would never buy the belief that she is clinically insane to the point where she's not responsible. Never," says Taylor Searle.

“Don't be fooled by Jodi's sweet demeanor and her public-speaking skills," warns Samantha. "She's a liar. And she's evil.”

Jodi says she's not guilty. "I think there's only way out of that, and that is to go to trial.” And, if her case goes to trial, she says she will take the stand.

But Jodi won’t be the only one on trial. With every sordid detail of their personal lives made public, Travis’ reputation will also be judged.

“I anticipate hearing things that were difficult for Travis and, you know, maybe things that he maybe didn't want everybody to know about,” says Aaron Mortenson.

“Some people might, you know, lose a little bit of respect for him or whatever," says Samantha. "I would say, don't judge him. He was a great person… whether or not he slipped.”

Sky Hughes admits a part of her holds Travis responsible for continuing the relationship and essentially using Jodi for sex. "But that doesn't make it OK. You know, it doesn't make it acceptable. I mean, it takes an evil, evil person to do what she did."

Jodi Arias will have a lot to defend when she finally stands in court before a judge and jury. Regardless of their decision though, she is convinced that there is a higher court she will eventually have to answer to.

"I didn't harm Travis. And yes, I will be held accountable for the other activities that we engaged in and for the other things that I've done," she says. "But when I stand before that day, when I am judged for all the things that I've done, that there's a really deep sense of comfort to know that, you know, that ultimately it's God's opinion that counts. Ultimately it's His justice system that nobody can escape. And He knows. And I know. And Travis knows."

Jodi Arias' trial will take place sometime in 2010.
