The Early Show "Singing Family Face Off" Look back at our months-long competition!
Features reporter and weather anchor Dave Price surprised them with a knock on their door in the wee hours of the morning Monday at their home in Sparks, right outside Reno, Nev.
They screamed with delight as they came out to greet Dave, and when he asked them later what they call themselves, one said, simply, "Pending"!
The group is made up of sisters Kathryn, 14, Lisa, 16, and Anne, 19, as well as their brother, Mark, 23.
"We've been singing together-- for about 12, 14 years," says Anne.
"Some people," Mark chimed in, "like to ride dirt bikes, we like to sing."
"I have to give, you know, props to Mark," Anne admits, "because, I don't know if all guys could put up with, you know, three girls in a group. We're all very opinionated! He's our older brother and he's always, kind of been the protector to us girls."
"We love what we're doing," Lisa emphasized, "and it's definitely a huge passion of ours."
Said Kathryn, "Being the youngest in the family, I have the advantage of watching my older siblings perform. ... I look up to them so much."
Getting emotional, Kathryn continued, "They're all amazing. I wanna be just like them."
"Each of us has our own style," Anne pointed out, "our own thing that we're into. And I think we, kind of, just bring it all together."
"America is definitely gonna see that we're a group that can give them what they want," Mark stressed. "We tackle many different genres. So, there's gonna be something in there that everybody likes."
The Early Show searched for months, going through hundreds of videos submitted by family bands, then narrowed the field to six finalists.
Each weekday morning from Feb. 16 through Feb. 23, Price will be surprising the six family finalists with the big news, live on The Early Show.
On Wednesday, Feb. 25, the competition begins with live performances in The Early Show studio. Vote for your favorite online each week! The winning family will be announced April 1.
At stake: a deal with CBS Records!

- Hi, just want to let you knoy that I really enjoyed your first performance and wish had been able to go on in the contest. I do agree that Anne needs to step back and let the others take center stage a bit. But again, I thought you were very good!

- In such a short time you can't hear enough of each but together-WHOA! Let's give these kids their big break so we can hear them-each and together much more. The Lorentzens have given Sparks NV music and musicals in our schools for generations now. I hope we can give this generation of Lorentzens the means to reach out to even more people. Every year Lorentzens sing as we light our city tree at Sparks Hometowne Christmas. May your future in recording be as bright! .....and you should hear their parents!

- Great singing, wonderful harmonies from four voices that blend together perfectly, what more can you ask for? Thought these kids were the best by far and they deserve to continue on in the contest. In fact, would like to see them win that recording contract! Even if they don't win this contest surely there is some record producer out there who would like the chance to take these kids all the way to a number 1 track and a great career. It is obvious that these kids have been singing together all their lives and even at their young ages they show real professional talent that needs to be capitalized on.Well done, Lorentzen family!!!

- I'm enjoying the Singing family face off - BUT - do you have self-promote yourselves for 20 seconds before every entry?
I should be thankfull I don't have to press #1 for English. - Reply to this comment
- Really enjoyed their first performance and hope to see them continue on in the contest. I like their harmonies, though Anne is a bit over bearing at times and doesn't bled as well as the others. I'd like to see more vocals from Mark, Lisa and Kathryn and see Anne take a step back as 'lead' vocalist.
