After Oscar: Stars Party The Night Away

ET's Mary Hart Has The Scoop Inside Tinseltown's Biggest Blowout, The Vanity Fair Party

(CBS)  The red carpets were rolled up following the Oscar telecast but Entertainment Tonight's Mary Hart told Harry Smith on The Early Show that the limos were still lined up all over Tinseltown the morning after.

"You know how the stars like to let loose right here in Hollywood, especially after the big awards shows," said Hart.

Then Hart dished about what she witnessed at the biggest after party in L.A., the Vanity Fair party.

"Jen [Aniston] and John [Mayer] kissing on a couch ... best actress winner Kate Winslet in a mock Oscar tug-of-war with Meryl Streep," crowed Hart.

Winslet, who won in the best actress category, was heard saying "I still keep looking at it and kind of going, 'Wow, that's mine.'"

Meanwhile, Madonna expressed her excitement for ex-husband Sean Penn, who won best actor for his portrayal of Harvey Milk.

Heath Ledger's mother, father and sister told ET that they expected Heath's daughter Matilda, 3, would receive her father's statuette after about a day. Ledger became the second actor to be awarded an Oscar posthumously.

However it seems there was a bit of excitement around the ladies' room at the Vanity Fair party. Actress Anne Hathaway, who performed at the top of the show, revealed to ET that she needed her mother's help with a zipper, not for a fashion emergency, but to answer the call of nature.

And Hart admitted to Smith that she almost had a fashion emergency herself. "I nearly had a head-on collision with Diane Lane. I was running into the ladies room, she was running out, we were both looking down. It was like, yeah, 'Oh Hi Mary! Hi Diane!'"

But designer Ali Rahimi may have had such an encounter in mind when he designed Mary's gown, made from a flat antique taffeta. "He didn't want it steamed out looking normal, he crinkled it up," Hart explained. "I mean I have been able to wring my hands all night. He calls it his shipwreck dress, pulled out of the bottom of the ocean."

But Smith didn't think Hart was anything near washed up. "This is amazing," he said of her gown. Even risking jealousy from co-anchors Julie Chen and Maggie Rodriguez back in New York, Harry told Hart, "You are smoking hot!"
