"Miracle On Hudson" Song From The Heart
(CBS)
Emma Sophina was on vacation from her native Australia when she became a part of history last month.
The 26-year-old aspiring singer and songwriter was visiting New York when she boarded Flight 1549 to visit friends in Charlotte, N.C.
The plane wound up in the Hudson River after the miracle emergency landing pulled off by pilot Chesley "Sullly" Sullenberger.
"I was relatively calm," she told CBS News correspondent Priya David, and I think that's a true testament as to my faith in God. I was really calm, and I think that, in those situations, you realize there are things that are out of your control. And you know. 'If it's my time to go, it's my time to go." '
It was only later, she says, that feelings of panic set in.
Still, next thing she knew, Sophina had poured her emotions into a song, and landed a record deal for "Send Anther Prayer."
The song, she says, is a tribute to God and the good fortune shared by all aboard Flight 1549 stemming from the heroic efforts of the plane's pilots.
She spoke about her experience, and sang the song, on The Early Show Monday.
