Another N.Y. Giants Player Shot
New York Giants receiver Taye Biddle is recovering from gunshot wounds to his hand and leg after being shot while visiting family in his hometown.
Decatur police said in a statement Thursday that Biddle was shot Sunday night outside a residence and was treated and released from a local hospital. Police said there was no evidence Biddle caused or provoked the shooting.
The shooting was first reported by The Huntsville Times newspaper.
The 25-year-old Biddle grew up in Decatur and played college football at the University of Mississippi.
Police have not made any arrests in the case and have not released a possible motive for the shooting.
Biddle was promoted from the Giants' practice squad after receiver Plaxico Burress accidentally shot himself in the leg last November.
New York Daily News blogger Ralph Vacchiano notes that " This, of course, is the third incident involving a Giants receiver and a gun in the last two months. On Nov. 25, Giants receiver Steve Smith was robbed at gunpoint outside of his Clifton, N.J. home. Three days later, Giants receiver Plaxico Burress accidentally shot himself in the thigh in a Manhattan nightclub."

- Go out on Saturday night, get drunk, get in a fist fight, pick up a ***. A time honored tradition. Taye Biddle should talk to Ray Lewis about how to handle bar fights. I would like to see the NFL play games without helmets. I think it would spark fan interest.

- This guy gets shot in an unprovoked incident and it''s somehow his fault? Geeze, guys, I know the Giants underperformed this year (which is a nice way of saying they completely imploded) but come on - getting shot just sucks. Burres has himself to blame (and how lame is it to accidentally shoot yourself?) but this guy was apparently the victim of a random jerk with gun. Unless we hear he drew first or something, let''s lay off.
