Just Call Sarah Palin "Grandma"

By
CBSNews
(CBS)  Sarah Palin rocked the political world this summer when the Alaska governor and newly-tapped Republican Vice Presidential nominee announced her unwed teenage daughter was pregnant.

Now, Bristol Palin, 18, has made Palin a grandmother, giving birth to Tripp Easton Mitchell Johnston, who weighed in at seven pounds, four ounces, according to People.com.

The Web site says Colleen Jones, the sister of Bristol's grandmother, Sally Heath, confirmed the news. "The baby is fine and Bristol is doing well. Everyone is excited," People.com quotes Jones as saying.

The father is Levi Johnston, 18, a former hockey player at Alaska's Wasilla High School. Wasilla is the Palins' hometown.

On The Early Show Tuesday, J.D. Heyman, People magazine assistant managing editor, told substitute co-anchor and regular Saturday co-anchor Chris Wragge, "The family is overjoyed. ... They're being very private about it. Sarah Palin has not commented. Some people close to Sarah Palin have, and they seem to be overjoyed. We'll see what happens next."

Asked by Wragge if Bristol and Levi plan to get married and finish high school, Heyman replied, "I think all of that is in the cards. Levi is an apprentice electrician. Bristol is studying via correspondence course to finish her high school diploma, and they have said they will marry in 2009. So we'll see."

"This is a very close-knit family," Heyman continued. "Bristol is a typical teenager in many ways. Clearly, they (family members) were not sort of schooled for prime time. They were a family that was kind of thrust into this, and she was in many ways, a very typical Alaskan teen."

Noting that Levi's mother was arrested earlier this month on felony drug charges, Heyman said it's "not very clear" how close the two families are. " ... Certainly," he added, "these are people with complicated lives. They've been thrust into the limelight without a lot of preparation, and when that happens, you see a lot of, you know, personal messiness. I think, clearly, everyone right now is focused on this baby, and hopefully that will remain the focus."

Heyman says there doesn't appear to be any race among paparazzi to get the first photos of Tripp: "Listen. This is a very different kind of family. These people are having, you know, a private happy family moment, and certainly we wish them well. But I wouldn't say this is the kind of celebrity baby moment that many people anticipate."

Early Show national correspondent Hattie Kauffman pointed out that Tripp will have a playmate close to his own age: Earlier this year, Sarah Palin herself gave birth to her son, Trig.

Why does everyone keep calling this girl and her family trailer trash. Yeah she''s an unwed mother, but that''s pretty common nowadays. She''s finishing high school, and she''s 18, not 14. Those of you who call her trash are pretty vile. She had a healthy pregnancy, delivered a healthy baby, so what about any of the rest! Would you rather she aborted the baby? Do you advocate a woman''s right to choose? Well she did make her choice, the right one for her. So leave the trash label to those girls who dump kill their babies and leave them in dumpsters and swamps, not to this girl who has done nothing but be a good mom so far. And no I''m not a republican, I think this baby''s grandma is an idiot.

I am an independent so maybe I do not understand the lingo. But what is a "liberal hater"? Is that someone that hates liberals or is it a liberal that hates something?

Antimony,
Good to see you back!
I like your idea of a TV sit-com. Or is it a reality show?

You''ve really got to read this article by the Washington Post. http://***********/6emukq

This top-rated piece of investigative reporting shows that Wall Street Banks took BILLIONS out of our pockets by cornering the Oil markets in 2008, controlling 81 percent of all oil contracts in the world...and they''re getting ready to do it again in 2009.

http://***********/6emukq

This article was not widely reported by virtually any other major news media (NBC, ABC, FOX, CNN, etc).

Cut and paste this and pass it on to people. We have been sold out.

As the article points out, these same Wall Street firms plan to do the same thing in 2009 to the price of everything we eat or drink, using the same cheap money they are getting from our treasury to manipulate commodities markets.

Why are we paying to keep these firms in business?

Why are our taxes being used to keep them operating?

They aren''t lending money to real businesses, they aren''t helping our economy, they simply aren''t necessary for America...they are only used by the very richest parasites who are destroying our country and dictating its policies by buying out our government and impoverishing the majority.

Our elderly are being forced into the street by these banks. Our children are being bankrupted by 29% credit card rates with taxpayer money the Fed gives the banks at zero percent.

This is obscene.

How long will we allow this to continue?

At the very least,Bristol gave her baby LIFE, as inconvenient as that may have been. She did not choose to have an abortion. Obama said that he would not want his daughter "punished" by having a baby, when questioned about abortion rights, yet espouses "family values." You people are AMAZINGLY biased and hypocritical!

At the time that Jesus lived, abortions were common in the Roman Empire. What did Jesus say about that. Let us take a quick look at the bible to determine what he had to say about that. OK. I looked and this is what he had to say. ___________________. Now let us follow his example. Unless, of course, there is now a higher authority than him. If that is so, please enlighten me.

I still find it past amazing that Sarah Palin didn''t know what the bailout plan was. I mean, I am a plumber, dumber that dumb, and I knew what the bailout plan was! I think McCain wanted to lose, and he pulled it off!

LOL! The Palins, led by the Witch of Wasalia, are a natural Jerry Spring show all by themselves, without Jerry Springer. Nothing could be more hilarious!!!

You people are sick. There is nothing wrong with Bristol having a baby, people make mistakes and only some people actually care about taking responsibility for their mistakes.

Sure there is, when Mrs right-wing buybull thumper herself is condemning everyone else for the SAME dam thing, suddenly when the shoe is on HER foot and HER abstinence BS FAILS in her own home it gets quietly swept under the rug, so do the media and right-wing attacks that would be done on anyone else.

The boy SHOULD have been charged with statutory rape- anyone else would have been. This same boy''s myspace or facebook acct said he was agnostic and under where it asks in the profile about kids, he put "Dont want any". Suddenly after the news hit the fan that profile vanished and was locked to PRIVATE, but not before some fast people got screen caps of the original and posted it. You can bet the CIA or something made sure his profile was trashed and locked fast for damage control.

His REAL sentiment was, he is not into religion and he DOESNT want kids, now he is forced into both under pressure by the Palens.
