Barney Frank Has Post-partisan Depression

By Ryan Grim

(The Politico)  Barney Frank, in a typically colorful turn on MSNBC today, said that Pastor Rick Warren's recent meeting with representatives of the Muslim faith has not warmed him to the prospect of Warren offering the invocation at Obama's inauguration.

While the Massachusetts Democrat said he was glad that Warren was reaching out, he said that conversation isn't the issue, but rather the honor being bestowed on Warren, who has compared same-sex marriage to incest. Frank noted that he himself regularly speaks in Congress with people for whom he has very little regard.

By way of explaining what Obama might have been thinking when he chose Warren, Frank said that Obama "overestimates" his ability to charm those he disagrees with and overestimates the right's willingness to be "post partisan."

Having worked for decades with the GOP, Frank said, "I suffer from post-partisan depression."
