As modern medicine wins more and more battles against killers like heart disease, diabetes, lung ailments, etc., cancer clusters are statistically likely to become more prevalent, regardless of what exists in the environment.

someone should also check out the Marlboro, MA facility. There are a lot of cancer victims there also, more than anyone wants to admit.

The sad thing is that ultimately Nobody is "immune" to the effects of modern society''s toxic byproducts.
I''ve lost a good friend to brain cancer, a fellow airman to leukemia, a local Mennonite girl I knew to liver cancer (and they DO try to avoid such things) and on and on.
Wealthy doesn''t mean as someone pointed out that your Dentist may have an overly potent x-ray machine for your teeth or your home was not built on a former chemical dump or even years of use of your pricey cell phones won''t kill you ultimately.
Ironically the rural poor may actually have some advantage over the wealthy suburbanite if there hasn''t been poison dumping in their area.
We''ll see over the next few years how toxic our lives have become and then MAYBE when the genetic damage, skyrocketing disability costs and deaths become unacceptable things might change.. too late for some of us but hope for those that survive such foolishness.

My name is Ed,When I was a kid I ran all around the lake, swam in it and ate the fish.Point in fact my sisters and I lived on the fish in the lake. Also I hunted rabbits from the fields of Morton,Modine and Northern Pump Farms. Most of my freinds lived in the village,I drank water and koolaid at there homes many times.I have had unexplained illness most of my life! So many times when I walked the tracks between McHenry and Ringwood I had a bad feeling?I just always figured it was the lack of wild life that should have been there that made me feel odd! Thank You Katie Couric Thank YOU I now know where to start looking for my anwsers

This attorney has the area investigated and obtains reports and tests on the environment to find out what caused this. This takes years of research, not something done on a whim. He works very hard to collect all of the facts before he presents it. What matters more than your occupation or what political party you choose is finding out what the cause is and preventing it from happening to more people. God Bless the people of this small town and hope that you can find peace. I hope when you get a drink of water from your faucet tonight, you can trust that it has not been contaminated. I hope you can breathe the air where you live and not worry about what you are breathing. I hope the ground where you live has not been contaminated either.

I HAVE BEEN EMPLOYED BY ROHM AND HAAS FOR OVER 36 YEARS. I BEGAN AS AN HOURLY EMPLOYEE AND WAS ONE DAY ABLE TO ADVANCE INTO SUPERVISION. I CAN SINCERELY SAY THAT ROHM AND HAAS TREATS SAFETY AND THE ENVIRONMENT AS THEIR TOP PRIORITIES. SOME OTHER COMPANIES MAY SKIMP ON THESE PRIORITIES. BUT NOT ROHM AND HAAS, NO WAY, NO HOW!!

Unlike "Erin Brokovich", CBSNews and Byron Pitts provide no concrete evidence to link Rohm and Haas with the cancer "clusters".

What Byron and CBSNews neglected to tell you about McCollum lake is the following:

1. Rohm and Haas is not the only chemical plant within a mile of McCollum lake. In fact there is one cother chemical plant and several facilities that use chemicals to treat their products.
2. Not that this exonerates Rohm and Haas at all, but they did not own that chemical facility in 1963. They purchased it from Morton about a decade or so ago. I do agree however that when you buy a company you accept all responsibilities.
3. Did CBSNews tell us when these unfortunate people found out they had cancer? What is this cancer caused by? Could this cancer be caused by the same thing - a chemical? What kind of chemicals are used this facility (besides the blanket statement "plastics and pesticides", which could mean one of over a million chemicals used in those applications)? The answer to these questions according to the article is no. They have nothing.

Now I don''t want to come off as uncaring because I have had experience with cancer in the past and it''s obviously terrible, but before CBSNews creates a story like this and makes such a heavy accusation, they need to have more facts to make a credible case. Otherwise they have nothing to stand on.

I try to stay out of stuff but the more you find out, the harder it is. In the city of Barberton, Oh, pop. about 25,000, there was a chemical plant. Sometimes, the air would be green yellow with chlorine gas. Children suffered but mostly the male because of the weaker XY type gene.
Within a mile of the chemical plant was the another plant which worked on the early nuclear weapons and still does. In order to protect the weapons plant, any complaints about the chemical plant were ignored or removed. Doctors were sympathetic but could do nothing against the operation of the plant.
Just south, the chemicals that were dumped into the little stream would make you choke. This is in the downtown area.
I am sorry that this all happened. I worked with the Barberton Red Cross, Barberton United Way, Barberton FD, Akron Red Cross and other organizations. Now, I''m older. Most people don''t really know or are not touched by the problems.
Oldandwiser.
