Second Cup Cafe: Brian McKnight

(CBS)  Grammy-nominated singer Brian McKnight has been soothing millions with his soft, velvety voice for years and now he's at again, but this time he's ringing in the Christmas sprit.

McKnight, along with his two sons, stopped by The Early Show's "Second Cup Café" to perform songs from his new album, "I'll Be Home for Christmas."

His career has been a huge success in the field of contemporary music and R&B. Always at work doing what he loves to do, McKnight has released 11 albums, and seven have gone platinum, some up to triple platinum. He's sold over 20 million records worldwide.

When it comes to performing, McKnight doesn't just do concerts; he crossed over to the Broadway stage in 2007 to play the role of Billie Flynn in "Chicago," and in 2005 performed in "Cheaters," based on a Jerome Dickey novel. In 2006, he scored "Daddy's Little Girls" for Tyler Perry.

When he's not singing, you can still find McKnight behind the microphone hosting "Soul Sessions with Brian McKnight" on BETJ, and "The Brian McKnight Morning Show" on KTWV The Wave Smooth Jazz radio station.

McKnight has collaborated with some of the best performers in the music industry, such as Justin Timberlake, Mariah Carey, Sean "P. Diddy" Combs, Christina Aguilera, Rascal Flatts, Nelly, Vanessa Williams, Willie Nelson and Kenny G, to name a few.

His accolades include American Music Awards, Soul Train Awards, NAACP Image and Blockbuster Awards, as well as Billboard's Songwriter of the Year.

With no signs of slowing down, McKnight will release another album in February 2009, to be called "Brian McKnight Live from Fifteen."
