(AP)  President-elect Barack Obama said Saturday that he's asked his economic team for a recovery plan that saves or creates more than 2 million jobs, makes public buildings more energy-efficient and invests in the country's roads and schools.

"We won't just throw money at the problem," Obama said in the Democratic Party's weekly radio address. "We'll measure progress by the reforms we make and the results we achieve - by the jobs we create, by the energy we save, by whether America is more competitive in the world."

Obama's remarks come after the Labor Department announced Friday that employers cut 533,000 jobs in November, the most in 34 years.

Obama said his plan would put millions of people to work by "making the single largest new investment in our national infrastructure since the creation of the federal highway system in the 1950s."

He also wants to install energy-saving light bulbs and replace old heating systems in federal buildings to cut costs and create jobs.

School buildings would get an upgrade, too. "Because to help our children compete in a 21st century economy, we need to send them to 21st century schools," Obama said.

As a part of the plan, Obama said he wants to expand Internet access in communities. Hospitals also should be connected to each other online.

"Here, in the country that invented the Internet, every child should have the chance to get online," he said.

Obama said he would announce other details of the economic recovery plan in the coming weeks. He said he'd work with Congress to pass the initiative when lawmakers reconvene in January.

Since Obama is going in for big public works projects we should not let him leave out the fence on the Mexican border. That would be one all the taxpayers can get behind. Stepping up the war on terrorism would also be a good choice. Getting more children online would be asking for trouble. Getting children off line would be would be more appropriate.

Posted by clovisbuford - Dec 06, 2008" that''''s a kind characterization of the last 8 yrs. i would never have described the Bush admin that way or the results of it , but to each his own .. its probably part of your strategery that we misunderestimate you to quote Bush and co.

With all due respect Sir - I can conclude by your synopsis that you are about half right!

Your hostility will soon be replaced by anger. Anger about the fact that your elected leader is nothing but a phony. His big talk of change put the Clinton%u2019s back on charge. All promises made during his campaign are fading to the point that they are no longer valid coming January 21st. Although you appear like a somewhat intelligent being, your tunnel vision is frightening. One of the prides of this country is diversity. Diversity you can not get if you don%u2019t respect the opinion of others. That%u2019s is what our forefathers fought for.

AJMarine111 .......no you don''''t hide you apathy. Are you proud of that? That attitude is not conducive to democracy, but then agian you don''''t really seem to have a grasp on that concept either.

I took a stand for you, what else can I do.

You say waterboarding is terrible, and I agree,...but I also say worse things could have happened. I say throw people in jail that need to be thrown in jail, but I see no body, after 5 years, doing it.

Bad things happen in war when people feel their lives and the lives of their loved ones are in danger. If you read Plato, he calls it "The State of Man".

Hakori,

You need to learn that one of the foundations of democracy is to peaceful agree or disagree with one another without the use of insults or other profanities.

His "Fairness Doctrine" is just the start to eliminate democracy as you know it. Let''s face it, it is only a small step from socalism to comunism. And socalism is coming.

You have that attitude that nobody is doing anything about it so it must not be that bad! You would have fit in nicely in Deutchland in the 1930''''s....Hitler ain''''t so bad...until he comes for you!

You wanted me to take a stand, and I did.

I said if it had been me. "I would have shot them where I found them" and they wouldn''t have had to worry about waterboarding.

You feel better now?

Hakori,

I sure hope you are that passionate when the the media turns their back on the Great Ohbeemie and reveals who he really is. Once the expose his association with right wing radicals it should not take long to start impeachment procedures. Let''s see how you react then. Should Bush have been impeached? I say yes, but if the democrats in two years of their majority weren''t able to find anything to get him on why would it change now?

The Great Ohbeemie''s Grandmother who was present the day of his birth says he was born in Kenya. However, there is a questionable birth certificate from Hawaii that says otherwise. Strange that there wa no official stamp or embroidered stamp on this document. But let''s give him the benefit of the doubt. Maybe his grandmother is not really his grandmother..........

Yeah, well, let the man take office. I am sure they are terribly concerned with alerting YOU to their plans, though! LOL!

Rather than coming up with a plan the Great Ohbeemie is too busy tryinbg to be an entertainer. It shows clearly how much he is about himself and nothing else.

FACT:

His "Change" put the Clinton Administration back in charge.

He could not pass his own job application.

He already started going back on his promises.

THAT''S WHAT YOU VOTED FOR !!!!!!!!!

You see resigned to just let this slide, if indeed you even see a problem. Agian prooving my point. If you let it happen and happen again, you are as guilty as the criminals who perpetrated the crimes.

Posted by hakori at 11:11 AM : Dec 07, 2008

hakori, this will be my last words on this.

You still don''t hear me.

IF BUSH IS A WAR CRIMINAL PUT HIM IN JAIL......PLEASE!!!!!!

When and if he ever goes to trial and is convicted, I will gladly slam the door in back of him.

Until then, I don''t claim to know what all goes on in our government, or others, behind closed doors. The powers that be aren''t saying or doing anything about any abuses Bush has done, and I am tired of hearing about it.

I do see where you are coming from though.

Have a good day.......... Live Long and Prosper.
