Network concert was an unusual way to unveil nominations

(CBS)  It was a big night for The Jonas Brothers at "The Grammy Nominations Concert Live" in Los Angeles. The teen pop sensations were nominated for a Grammy Award in the category of Best New Artist.

It was the first-ever Grammy nomination for the trio of brothers from New Jersey. Kevin, Joe and Nick Jonas were still reeling from the excitement when they sat down to chat with The Early Show's Julie Chen Thursday morning.

What was it like to hear their names called out?

Nick, 16, said "it was unbelievable. We all realize we are young guys and to be nominated in this category is an honor... We are so thankful and honored to just be recognized."

Kevin, 21, jumped out of his chair.

"It was awesome. I just couldn't hold it in. It was just incredible, overwhelming," he said. "To hear your name among the other amazing nominees is an honor and a true pleasure."

So who was their first call to after hearing the news? It took a while, but finally, after talking with the media, it was mom who got the call about the big news.

"She already knew. Our dad was giving her the play-by-play on the Blackberry," Nick said. Kevin adds, "She was already cooking food for us to celebrate when we got home. It was really nice."

Over the past two years, the brothers have exploded onto the music scene.

"It's been amazing for us. We've had some amazing experiences... From our Burning Up tour to starting a television show. We are just living a dream and having fun on the ride," 19-year-old Joe said.

The brothers have even performed at the White House. They call it an amazing honor, but admit that singing the National Anthem there was one of the most nerve-wracking things they've had to do.

The brothers talked more with Chen about their hit, "Lovebug," their music inspirations, being compared to the Beatles and their run-in with a music legend.
