Two Killed, 30 Hurt In India Bomb Blast

Explosion On Train Car At Diphu Station Likely Not Related To Mumbai Attacks

(AP)  A bomb exploded in a train coach in India's insurgency-hit northeast on Tuesday, killing at least two people and injuring another 30, a state government official said.

The explosion occurred shortly after the train arrived at Diphu railroad station, about 200 miles south of Gauhati, the capital of Assam state, said District Magistrate M.C. Sahu.

The train was heading from Lumding in central Assam to the eastern commercial hub of Tinsukhia, Sahu said.

All the 30 wounded have been hospitalized, three of them in critical condition, he said.

The bomb was a timed device, left in a bag on an overhead rack of the train coach and it blew off a part of the roof, said K.K. Sharma, a superintendent of police.

While no one immediately claimed responsibility for the attack, Sharma said an ethnic insurgent group, Karbi Longri National Liberation Front, fighting for wide autonomy in the state for the past five years was suspected.

The front is one of the three groups active in the region; the other two groups have reached cease-fire accords with the government.

The blast comes just days after suspected Muslim militants attacked targets across Mumbai, killing at least 172 people and injuring 239. Tuesday's blast was not seen as related to the Mumbai attacks.

In October, the state had witnessed 13 coordinated bomb attacks which killed 89 people and wounded more than 800 in four towns.

Several insurgents groups are battling for power, for ethnic pride and for control of drug routes in India's northeast, an isolated collection of seven states and hundreds of ethnic groups and subgroups. They fight the government and they fight each other in a region crippled by poverty and political chaos.

o my god, why cant people just leave other people alone? im 15 and already, im scared to go into the world if i have to be worrying that the car that i walk by or the building im in is going to blow up because someone put a bomb in it! why cant people just stay at home if they are that sick and twisted, or at least only kill themselves and leave the innocent people who cherish their lives alone?! they are just sick and twisted and they should all be locked up in a phych ward! (in my opinion...)

Obama has written that he will stand with his Moslem brothers. I believe he meant the peaceful Moslems that want to better the conditions of their people. What Obama should do is publicly denounce terrorists and get his friends Louis Farakhan, Reverend Wright, Jesse Jackson, Congressman Ellis, and his relatives in Kenya to come out against terrorists. Take a strong stand against terror. He is our leader, he must now lead.

When is the world going to realize that the only thing the Muslims want to do is destroy our society? They want to bring the world back to the dark ages. The world has to unite and get rid of these terrorist once and for all.
