(AP)  A Pennsylvania Democratic party leader says MSNBC pundit Chris Matthews may be considering a run for U.S. Senate in 2010.

The Patriot-News of Harrisburg reports Matthews met with state party leaders this past week in Washington to discuss a possible bid to unseat Republican Sen. Arlen Specter.

Party official Mary Isenhour says she left the meeting feeling that Matthews still hadn't made up his mind.

The 62-year-old Matthews hosts MSNBC's "Hardball" and provides political commentary on NBC's "Today." He ran unsuccessfully for a Pennsylvania congressional seat in 1974.

There was no immediate comment from Matthews on Saturday. A reliable home telephone number could not be located and a representative of MSNBC did not immediately return a call.

Hey why not?

Obama proved you do not need experience just $600 million in ad campaign money, a campaign manager to do all your dirty work, and a pile of horse poop political promises.

Yeah Chris Matthews!

A trucker came into a truck stop cafe and placed his order. He said, ''''''''I want three flat tires, a pair of headlights and a pair of running boards.''''''''

The brand new blonde waitress, not wanting to appear stupid, went to the kitchen and said to the cook, ''''''''This guy out there just ordered three flat tires, a pair of headlights and a pair of running Boards. What does he think this place is, an auto parts store?''''''''

''''''''No,'''''''' the cook said. ''''''''Three flat tires mean three pancakes, a pair of headlights is two eggs sunny side up, and running boards are 2 slices of crisp bacon.

''''''''Oh, OK!'''''''' said the blonde. She thought about it for a moment and then spooned up a bowl of beans and gave it to the customer.

The trucker asked, ''''''''What are the beans for Blondie?

She replied, ''''''''I thought while you were waiting for the flat tires, headlights and running boards, you might as well gas up!

FOR ONCE THE BLONDE GETS EVEN!

Specter has shown some leadership over the years but his time is passing.

I can think of few people that would make a better US Senator-

Matthews would be a fantastic Senator- he has vast knowledge and sense of history that would give him a great persoective.

Proof positive can be found right here when you see the right-wing nut jobs bounce off the wall of their padded cells at the mere idea-

Specter has shown some leadership over the years but his time is passing.

I get tingle up my leg just reading about it. MSNBC has no story about it yet.

Oh my, the tingle gets bigger and bigger, is it really a tingle, yes it is.

Why not? We had a "D" list actor as president in the 80s, and a family clown is in office now.

Besides, with Matthews'' mouth, no one else will ever have a chance to speak.

Trivia tidbit: Matthews was a speach writer for that "D" list actor.

The two biggest problems neocons and by extension, the neo-conned bloggers, have with this guy is that he''s intelligent, AND he has a real personality, unlike the pods and phonies the ''pubs keep trotting out.

Going by the continued wackjob postings from the likes of jowand and ''suk2, the rovian neocon permanent campaign may indeed never end. But it will continue to be pushed to such fringe elements.

Go Chris Go

He just wants to get closer to Obama and hope they can somehow forge a love-child. His man-love for Obama is getting the better of him - perhaps he should reconsider before he becomes as big a joke as Stuart ''I''m good enough, I''m smart enough...'' Smalley running for the Senate in Minnesota.

longtree: You avoid the actual U.S. Senate with former klansman Sen. Byrd, negligent homicide or worse Sen. Kennedy, and the loony toon trying to be U.S. Al Franken of Mn. I know that since these are Democrats they don''t count.

With all the grief he gave the Clintons over the years, do you think Bill and Hillary will campaign for Specter just for the payback?

If he is looking at the Senate, he must not have a chance with Meet the Press

Your a joke Mathews, but hey, if we can elect a junior senator with no experience as President, I don''''t see why we couldn''''t elect and brainless dem who has pretended to be a journalist for the last 10 years.

I had no idea Matthews is 62 years old.

That makes him the same age as Dubya, yet Dubya looks like he could be Matthews'' old man......

If Matthews runs successfully it will confirm my belief that the average American does not deserve the "right" to vote. He is an egotistical moron.
