Facts and statistics on sexual assault and rape, with victim resources.

(CBS/AP)  British officials were investigating Wednesday how a man managed to repeatedly rape his daughters and father nine children with them without being stopped by the authorities.

The 56-year-old man was sentenced Tuesday to life in prison for what a judge called "the worst (case of abuse) I have come across" in 40 years.

"To say that we were shocked to find the level of abuse perpetrated by this person is an understatement," said Jayne Ludlum, director of children's services in Sheffield, the family's hometown. "It is hard to comprehend how this could happen in today's society."

Ludlum said Sheffield authorities had launched an investigation.

The man, who cannot be named because of reporting restrictions to protect his daughters' identity, raped his children for more than a quarter of a century from the time they were eight or 10, beating them when they resisted. Between them the daughters bore their father seven surviving children. Two more infants died at birth, while the other pregnancies ended in abortion or miscarriage.

Nick Clegg, leader of the opposition Liberal Democrats party, said the "stomach-churning" case raised the question: "How on earth did something like this happen without someone noticing?"

"Where were the medical professionals? Where were the social workers? What were they doing for the last 20 years?" said Clegg, who represents a Sheffield district in the House of Commons. "Those are the big questions that need to be asked."

Lincolnshire police investigated a claim of incest made by the girls' brother in 1997, but no action was taken, according to the Daily Telegraph. South Yorkshire social services had contact with the family when they moved back there in 2004, but nothing was done until the victims came forward.

Britain's child welfare services are already under pressure after the case of "Baby P," a toddler who suffered months of abuse that led to his death, despite repeated visits by social services staff in London.

It is interesting how lenient the British Government is granting sexual predators freedom to harm children.

A few years ago, the British granted over 70,000 travel visas to known sexual predators to travel outside the UK. Outsourcing criminals?

Last month, Police overlooked a priest abusing boys in an orphanage in Albania. They knew about it for over two years and did nothing.

The worthless United Nations and internationalist movement in Europe is well aware of these crimes, yet UNESCO hardly blinks an eye.

It''s time to boycott the blundering United Nations.
They do nothing, nothing. Iraq oil for food....

Lady-Organs is a real nut case and should be locked up. Why are so many of you spouting off about ***? This story is about incest not homosexuality. Seems that you right wing religious nut cases will use any venue to spout your false beliefs.

Leviticus is full of nonsense. It says that if your child curses, he/she should be killed by the parent. It tells you exactly what to do to be forgiven for many types of sin. In order to appease God for your sin, you must bring your first born goat, two pigeons etc. for the priest to kill in very specific ways on the altar. Now we all know that we don''t do any of those things so why would we pick homosexuality out of all of it and decide that that is the really important sin. It is stupid. By the way, I am straight and have been married for forty years.

WHAT THE BUYBULL SAYS ABOUT HOMOSEXUALITY?

Exodus 22:19

19Whosoever lieth with a beast shall surely be put to death."

Too bad, I LIKE bestiality and have no plans to change.

Leviticus 18:23

23Neither shalt thou lie with any beast to defile thyself therewith: neither shall any woman stand before a beast to lie down thereto: it is confusion."

SO? it''s confusing, it feels good!

Leviticus 20:13
13If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them."

So there ya have it- YOUR god is a murderous SLIME who is using you as a PAWN.

"Leviticus 20:15
15And if a man lie with a beast, he shall surely be put to death: and ye shall slay the beast."

Yeah in the OLD days of your the chrustaceans killed them, but NOW we have more rights and my animals and I enjoy our relations thank you.

"their blood shall be upon them.

FYI, slaves were not "slaves" by our definition today. They were contracted workers who were paid and cared for.

The language of the old testament is clear that slaves were BOUGHT (purchased). Therefore they were owned people. They could be inherited from one generation to the next and were possessions.

Just as the language is clear that people had multiple wives means that they married more than one person. Sometimes it was a half-sister as in the case of Abraham.

It would be an interesting USA if we lived by the rules of the old testament. Of course, we could just pick and choose some of the rules to live by.

"Leviticus?!?!

Isn''t that the same section that advocates slavery?!?"

FYI, slaves were not "slaves" by our definition today. They were contracted workers who were paid and cared for. Secondly, the bible talks about homosexuality IN MANY places. Look it up.

If the father and daughter were over 18 and it was consentual, would it be a civil rights issue to forbid the relationship. Yesterday''s pervert is tomorrow''victim.

@duhrer

Nice rant... though it would have been far more effective etched into stone tablets and then thrown to the ground.

Have you tried parting any seas, lakes, ponds or other bodies of water larger than a bathtub?

Now, don''t be mad... all in good humor. If it starts raining frogs here, its going to ruin my winter artichokes and chase away that nice young pair of sparrows that have taken up in the wife''s hollowed out gourds.

Duhrer
1:1
Thou shalt not quote the bible out of context, nor lay truth against its many contradictions and erroneous translations.

1:2
And if a man doth quote the bible erroneously, there will be an uprising against his ignorance until a torrent of words besmirches his very name and woe there shall be the blood of dead verse upon him.

1:3
And if a man does lay truth against its [the bible] many contradictions and erroneous translations, he shall be hurled into the the hell of many conundrums until the logic of practical thought consumes him.

1:4
These things and others shall pass ere mankind sheds his own beast of adamant ignorance and fills his soul rather with the joy of intellectual curiosity.

1:5
So spake duhrer unto the mindless hordes of religious fanatics.

Rules in Leviticus regarding male homosexuality
Posted by drmaqazi at 12:41 PM : Nov 26, 2008
---------------
Do you advocate slavery?

So you make burnt offerings? Do you follow clean and unclean animals rules? Do you follow rules of cleanliness after childbirth--sacrificing a lamb, a young pigeon or a dove? Do you have a minister check your house for mold and put blood on the door if they think they''ve found mold?

Do you sacrifice animals for pus or other bodily discharge? Do you stone people to death for blasphemy and a child insulting its parents?

What about lesbian homosexuality?

Do you pick and choose biblical text to follow?

drmaqazi, King James, you may have heard that name, was openly gay. Tell me again what your bible says about that? King David, and the son of King Saul, and Pope Paul II, and Pope Peter, did they ever read the parts of the bible that you posted bucause they were gay. The crusaders, how many of them brought boys with them while they fought for your god? What did they do with those boys? Go research it. How many bishops, how many priests missed these parts you posted I wonder.

Conservatives are all about aborntion and how terrible it is but completely silent on incest. Strange don''t you think. They need to get to the root of pregnancy - if caused by rape or incest they girl should be able to choose. End of discussion.
