People Denies Bowing To Jolie Pressure

Star Reportedly Insisted On Positive Portrayal In Magazine That Gave Brangelina Millions For First Photos Of Their Kids

(CBS)  You see her image everywhere - fawning cover stories about Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, the couple known as Brangelina for short.

Jolie is among the most photographed celebrities out there, observes Early Show National Correspondent Hattie Kauffman.

So it was no wonder that publications fell all over themselves, offering Brangelina oodles of money for the first photos of their kids.

People magazine is said to have paid $14 million dollars for the photo spread of her newborn twins. The cover of Baby Shiloh reportedly fetched more than $6 million.

But, according to The New York Times, the magazine also had to promise positive coverage of the star family.

People Deputy Managing Editor Peter Castro flatly denies it, saying it’s "absolutely not true. People magazine never promises good publicity or any kind of editorial control. ... I guarantee you that, if Angelina Jolie screwed up, People magazine, along with a lot of other magazines, would be all over that story."

Still, Kauffman points out, Jolie has managed to completely change her image, from the offbeat wife of Billy Bob Thorton and woman who stole Pitt from Jennifer Anniston, to United Nations goodwill ambassador and supermother.

"People at the U.N. think of her almost like a diety,” says Hollywood image expert Michael Levine. “She's almost like a beautiful Mother Teresa.”

What advice would Levine give Jolie?

“I'd ask her for some advice, because I think she may well be the greatest publicist of all time!” he replied.

I just adore Jolie and Pitt...It''s none of the publics business how they fell in love...they have 6 great children and they are both great people that do a lot over seas and in our great country and that''s a lot to be respected for.

I still have no use for a man who will cheat on his wife and a woman who would willingly break up a marriage for her own pleasure. These two deserve each other. BTW, Jolie has just managed to snowball everyone into thinking she is a perfect mother. She isn''t raising those kids. She has nannies raising those kids. Why do I get the feeling when these kids grow up, Jolie is going to come out looking like Joan Crawford? Mommie Dearest anyone?

They are overexposed, and my admiration for Pitt has tumbled the more pics get published. It''s like Tom and Katie - I avoid Tom Cruise movies now. They should understand that too much publicity is as bad as none at all.

Brad Pitt simply fell for a younger less intelligent version of Jennifer Aniston.

Regardless of their charitable works, they are setting the example that it''s OK to have babies out of marriage as are many of the "stars" today. These young women/girls may be able to afford to support the children on their own but all the girls/young women following their lead simply can''t so who is the burden placed upon? Ever thought about that? Have they?

That said, Angelina best figure out having babies so close together is not wise before she totally destroys her health. Those children cannot possibly be getting the individual attention they need and deserve. If Jolie isn''t smart enough to stop getting pregnant then Brad needs to make sure he insures it doesn''t happen.

Why does such a "great" Mom constantly show up with each child munching on a bag of junk? Never an apple or a banana, just salty, phoney cheesy junk. Can she read? The packages clearly explain the lack of quality in this sort of "food".

IMHO, I think that if Brad had wanted to stay with his first wife he would have. Angelina and Brad are very supportive of each other and definately have a handle on raising their children. Their personal life is no ones business, people fall in love and get divorced every day, so what is the big deal anywho!

I am just glad that they use their money to help others instead of living like some of those Hollywood characters....

Today, while waiting in the bank, I watched CNN go on endlessly about a Quaker school that Obama''s children will attend. Then, a report came on about a bank robber and a plea for help identifying him.
Before the robber''s face could be shown, they cut to commercial.
I guess I know which news was more important!
I was a newspaper reporter for 12 years. The c-rap that passes for news today would have prompted my journalism prof to give an F.
Journalism is nothing but showbiz. Witness the blatant favoritism of Obama over McCain. Objectivity in journalism died en masse 20 years ago.

Yeah, I saw the $14 million dollar pictures and they didn''t bother to bathe the kids for the shoot. I couldn''t believe it! Shiloh had broken off nail polish on a couple of fingers and Pax''s hair was just plain dirty. I think these people are way over exposed and totally full of themselves. I don''t care for either one of them frankly. I see the kids getting therapy in their future as the family can''t seem to stay in one place for very long.

I am as sick of seeing Angelina''s face plastered everywhere just like everyone else but, for the record, you cannot steal somebody that does not want to leave! If Brad had been happy with Jennifer, he would never have left her. So stop faulting Angelina for that whole fiasco.
