Alaska Governor Pardoned One Turkey At Farm, But Video Shows Others Being Slaughtered During Press Conference

(AP)  Gov. Sarah Palin has granted the traditional Thanksgiving pardon to one lucky turkey, but the video that shocked some viewers captured what was happening in the background.

As she answered questions Thursday at Triple D Farm & Hatchery outside Wasilla cameras from the Anchorage Daily News and others showed the bloody work of an employee slaughtering birds behind the former Republican vice presidential candidate.

On the video, Palin didn't comment about the slaughter as she answered questions, saying she's thankful that her son's Stryker brigade is relatively safe in Iraq and the rest of her family is healthy and happy. She said she's glad to be back in Alaska.

"This was neat," she said of the outing. "I was happy to get to be invited to participate in this. For one, you need a little bit of levity in this job, especially with so much that has gone in the last couple of months that has been so political obviously that it's nice to get out and do something to promote a local business and to just participate in something that isn't so heavy-handed politics that it invites criticism. Certainly we'll probably invite criticism for even doing this, too, but at least this was fun."

slownewsdaze: I don''t have to adopt one because I was an adopted, unwanted baby. My parents adopted me when I was exactly one year and one day old. From that day on I was never unwanted again. My adopted mother is the one who taught me the real meaning of being a mother. She taught me that you don''t have to give birth to a child to be a real mother to them. She was also the one who taught me that a real mother will give her life for her child or that her child might live. There is not a doubt in my mind that my mother would have died for me. She told me so many times! Also, even though I have not adopted a child myself because I''m not financially able to, I had a mother who loved all children. She would have adopted all of the unwanted children in the world if she could have and often said so. It wouldn''t have mattered to her if they were black, white, oriental, latino, or whatever color they were or whatever condition they were in. It wouldn''t have mattered to her if they were children born of rape or incest either. She loved all children. Even though she was never able to give birth to a child, she was a real mother. She had the heart and soul of a mother and that''s what really counts. She was also there for me whenever I needed her and I could talk to her about anything and I did.

heidiMT: There is one more thing that I didn''t mention. Even I''m not a hunter, my father was and I see nothing wrong with hunting. I have never ate moose but I have eaten elk and deer and rabbit and squirrel. They are delicious!

heidiMT: No, I''m not one of Sarah Palin''s staffers. I''ve never met the woman. I just completely agree with her that''s all! I also have a few things in common with her. I''m a born again Christian and a Pentecostal. I''m from a small town of about the same size as Wasilla. I''m just as pro-life as she is and maybe even more so because I don''t believe in capital punishment and I don''t think that a woman should have an abortion even in cases of rape or incest or even when a woman''s life is at stake. I think that a woman who is a real mother and has the heart and soul of a mother will die herself before she''ll allow her baby to be killed. She will give her life that her child might live. I also completely agreed with John McCain and Sarah Palin about the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and the economy. I was against getting into the wars in the first place but I''m against a troop pullout. I think that if Obama pulls the troops out without first winning the wars then the troops who have died over there will have died for nothing. We have lost too many to pull out now and the best way to honor the ones who''ve died is to win the wars. I also thought McCain was the best one to fix our economy situation. I definitely DO NOT like Obama''s share the wealth program! He will leave us with no savings for our retirement whatsoever! I think in the coming years all those who voted for Obama will regret it and they will be begging Sarah Palin to run for the presidency in 2012!

raflin0010: How do you know that Bristol didn''t have *** education? I wasn''t taught *** education in school either. My mother taught me at home. My mother told me all about the "difference" and she told me about abstinence and that couples are supposed to wait until their wedding night. My mother also told me about fornication and adultery and what the Bible says about them. She also told me about birth control but I was told that if I didn''t have *** I wouldn''t need the birth control. Even though my mother told me about birth control, she didn''t buy it for me. She told me that if I was determined to have *** she wanted me to use birth control but she wouldn''t buy it for me. She didn''t think that would be right. She told me I''d have to get it on my own. Abortion was simply out of the question. I was told to not even ever consider an abortion because abortion is murder. It''s the taking of a innocent human life. It never happened, but my mother told me that if I ever became pregnant, and was unmarried, to never be afraid to come to her and tell her. She said that she and my Dad would help me raise the child. Sarah probably taught Bristol the same way that my mother taught me but Bristol let her hormones take over her brain and had *** anyway.

SkiLuuver: Another thing, abstinence DOES work when it''s strictly practiced! Simply put, if kids don''t have *** girls won''t get pregant. But if they have *** even once there''s a possibility that a pregancy can result.

SkiLuuver: Do your children always listen to you? Do they always do everything that you tell them to? When you were a teenager did you always listen to your parents? If not then you have no right to say anything about Bristol Palin and the way that her parents raised her! If her mother taught her right, (and I believe she did), then it is not Sarah''s fault that Bristol is pregnant! Besides, as you know, you can not watch a teenager 24 hours a day! It can''t be done! When they are not with you and are out of your sight you just have to trust in the fact that you raised them right and hope that they listened! Besides, there are no perfect children! Not yours and not mine! No ones children are! They all make mistakes! So did I when I was young and, if you''d tell the truth, so did you! Unless you were perfect as a teenager and unless you have perfect children that never do wrong, then you have no right to say anything about Bristol Palin or Sarah! You also asked about Bristol''s wedding. I believe it''s scheduled for December.

Another thing, Voltaire777, the private school that the Obama girls will be attending and that the Biden grandchildren attend costs $29,000 a year for each child. The Palin girls are attending public school in Wasilla! The Obama girls and the Biden kids are no better than the Palin girls to attend public .

=======================

Except that one of the Palin girls is pregnant and umarried, because the abstinence her parents preach works so well. By the way, when is that "marriage" supposed to happen? We were told about it three months ago...........

Voltaire777: We''ll see what Barack Obama has installed in the white house and what Joe Biden has installed in the vice president''s mansion and see if you complain about that. You''ll probably think that''s just fine. It''s seems to me that a tanning bed that probably cost about $1,500 is pretty cheap compared to what other governors have installed in other governor''s mansions and compared to what Obama and Biden will have installed!

Voltaire777: If you are referring to the clothes, she didn''t buy those clothes! She was traveling most of the time from the republican convention until election day! She was attending 4 and 5 rallies and fund raisers a day most of the time in three or four states a day! She spent most of the time either on a plane or in a bus traveling. There''s only 24 hours in a day. Exactly when do you think she had time to shop? She barely had time to breathe during that time! Aides from the RNC bought those clothes and you know it! I doubt that she even told them where to shop. She just gave them their sizes and they did the rest. It was probably the aides idea to buy them at the most expensive stores because they probably thought it wouldn''t look right for a VP nominee to wear cheap clothing. But whatever, she didn''t keep the clothing! Some of it was returned to the stores unused and the rest was donated to charity! Aides traveled to Alaska and went through her suitcases and made sure that she didn''t keep it!

Communist....Why is it that only really evil people in our American history accuse their countrymen of being Communist???

J. Egar Hoover and segregationists used to refer to Martin Luther King and President Kennedy and his brothers as Communists.

Joe McCarty lead a mordern day WITCH HUNT accusing political opposition of being Communists.

lordmi: I have no trouble understanding Sarah''s speeches and neither would you if you would really listen and pay attention and not be trying to find something about her speech to ridicule her and laugh at her about! You are another one who never really listened to what she was saying. You couldn''t look beyond the winks and the friendly personality and really hear what she was saying or see the intelligent woman that she really is! Yes she is inexperienced, too inexperienced to be vice president. I can be wrong but I think that is a problem that she will remedy before 2012. I think she will study up on US foreign policy and travel and I think she''ll be experienced and ready before the next national election. I don''t think we''ve seen the last of Sarah Palin! At least I hope not! We need her in Washington! We need a conservative there because there are too many liberals in Washington! We need her to keep the liberals in check!
