Palin Interviewed As Turkeys Killed

Alaska Governor Pardoned One Turkey At Farm, But Video Shows Others Being Slaughtered During Press Conference

(AP)  Gov. Sarah Palin has granted the traditional Thanksgiving pardon to one lucky turkey, but the video that shocked some viewers captured what was happening in the background.

As she answered questions Thursday at Triple D Farm & Hatchery outside Wasilla cameras from the Anchorage Daily News and others showed the bloody work of an employee slaughtering birds behind the former Republican vice presidential candidate.

On the video, Palin didn't comment about the slaughter as she answered questions, saying she's thankful that her son's Stryker brigade is relatively safe in Iraq and the rest of her family is healthy and happy. She said she's glad to be back in Alaska.

"This was neat," she said of the outing. "I was happy to get to be invited to participate in this. For one, you need a little bit of levity in this job, especially with so much that has gone in the last couple of months that has been so political obviously that it's nice to get out and do something to promote a local business and to just participate in something that isn't so heavy-handed politics that it invites criticism. Certainly we'll probably invite criticism for even doing this, too, but at least this was fun."

Palin takes a day off. She was finally able to find a resort where she could completely blend in and get lost in the crowd.

Blame Palin''s staff for not having more prudent judgment in where she positioned herself for the on-air speaking. Palin isn''t stupid, but turkeys sure are as are people who continue to maintain that she''s dumb. This is what happens at a turkey farm. Turkeys get slaughtered so people have something to eat. Do people actually think turkeys aren''t slaughtered and are all pardoned ceremonially by politicians?

Hmmmm maybe it''s the smell of rotting fish as this beached whale democrat congress/president watches as the economy tanks. This article is much to do with "red herrings" trying to divert attention from our real problem incompetent Democrats in office.

Louiville, you''re pretty ignorant to be judging someone''s performance a) before they have even taken office, and b) based solely on the fact that they are a Democrat. You''re just another Republican with blinders over your eyes, seeing only what you want to see, and unable to get over the fact that the actual incompetent president and party were the ones voted out on November 4th. Maybe if Palin were a bit more with it, she would have had a clue as to how absurd and ridiculous that whole scene looked. The fact that she didn''t even notice tells the whole world that its a good thing she''s not in power right now.

Common sense escapes this woman!!! I don''t know whether to laugh or to feel sorry for her! I can almost see her sitting on a school bus, wearing a helmet, and licking the windows!!! LOL As an Obama supporter... I''m hoping to see Palin in 2012!!!

Although I agree that Palin is border-line retarded, and showing a Turkey''s death in an interview is very poor journalism, I think people should realize where the bin full of plastic wrapped Turkeys at the grocery store came from and how they got there. And...CBS News...If you ignore a stray dog - even one with lipstick - it will go away.

My God, you people must really, really fear this woman. Give it up for God;s sake. As far as Palin being "borderline retarded", I bet she knows who the president at the onset of the depression was AND I bet she knew there wasn''t any TV back in 1929. Also, bet she knows how many states we have. The blurp of the chosen one referring to "all 57 states" was kept out of your msm but look it up-priceless.
BTW, you people who will have turkey next Thursday, how do you think they get from farm to freezer. Sounds and looks like another pathetic "gotcha" from your media.

Why is this a story? What possible interest or agenda could there be in this, is CBS still feeding the kool-aide drinkers? Guess so! Do people realize that turkeys are killed before they are processed? Guess not!

Yes, people realize that turkeys are killed before they eat them. The hilarity of this is she reads her idiotic ''pardon'' speech, sparing the life of a turkey, and then cluelessly gives a press conference in front of the killing station. And her people acknowledged that the photographers had asked her if she wanted that as a background, and she saw no problem. The original video is over 6 minutes long, and she''s clueless throughout. A real genius.

Posted by notblue------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hey notblue......... it''s not the fact that turkeys are being slaughtered that is disturbing......... it''s the fact that Sarah Palin isn''t smart enough to know that the world doesn''t want to see the slautering taking place while she is lightheartedly giving a pardon to one of the turkeys!!!

Can you not see that she was set up? I''m certain that once she saw the video she was horrified. It''s obvious that she had the best of intentions and ya''ll need to not believe everything you read or hear as the absolute truth, why don''t you observe and think for a change? Good grief, it''s staring everybody in the face. Just because Rudolph the Rednosed Reindeer was on television doesn''t make him real, either.

I don''t think Sarah Palin is a complete idiot, she wouldn''t be governor of Alaska if she were. But you have to admit that giving an interview while turkeys are being slaughtered in the background is a pretty dopey thing to do.

I don''t believe that CBS is still trying to persecute Sarah Palin for her role in the 2008 election. I don''t know how many people have been to a slaughter house or a poultry farm but if they didn''t exist, we wouldn''t be eating their product.

Are some of you really this dumb? Apparently she was given the option of a different background shot before the interview and she said, "No worries". This is not about the slaughtering of the turkeys, nor is it city dwellers not understanding how the process works. It shows the idiocy of Ms Palin that she would want that background in a seemingly "lighthearted" story of pardoning one turkey. If this were ANYONE, it still would be disgustingly ironic.

I assumed that a person who can "understand" Russia because she can see it from her living room, would "umderstand" that Turkeys she has not pardoned might be being decapitated in those bloody bins , where she chose to do a photo op. But, since she is used to blasting the bloody guts out of many types of animals, I think it would not have made the slightest bit of difference in her tone of voice. Let''s face it, this Bimbo is not the most sensitive person on earth.

You know, Ive always thought that this whole -government-official-"pardoning"-a-turkey thing was never very funny..
Once, it made a macabre sort of joke, but still not funny.

Pardons are for executions, and that''s no laughing matter. Turkeys are being eaten, not ''executed''.
Execution is not a laughing matter to civilized people.
