The Caucus Roll Call
(The Politico)
Wednesday was a busy day for the various sub-caucuses in the House.
Democrats were particularly busy because there are so many sub-groups within the party (and let's move fast because we don't want to miss anyone...).
Members of the Congressional Black Caucus named California Rep. Barbara Lee as their next chair, Missouri Rep. Emanuel Cleaver as their first vice chair, Del. Donna Christensen as their second vice chair, North Carolina Rep. G.K. Butterfield as their secretary and New York Rep. Yvette Clark is the group's next whip next whip.
The always-democratic Blue Dog Caucus, elected South Dakota Rep. Stephanie Herseth Sandlin as its co-chair for administration, Indiana Rep. Baron Hill as its co-chair for policy and Louisiana Rep. Charlie Melancon as its co-chair for communications.
Members of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus named New York Rep. Nydia Velazquez as their next chair, Texas Rep. Charles A. Gonzalez as their next vice chair, California Rep. Hilda Solis as their second vice chair and Colorado Rep. John Salazar as whip.
Not to be outdone, founders of the conservative Republican Study Committee recommended Georgia Rep. Tom Price to be their next chairman. Barring a challenge by Tennessee Rep. Marsha Blackburn, this should make Price the next chair of an influential constituency in the diminished Republican Conference.
And, lest we forget, members of the New Dems started things off Tuesday night by re-electing California Rep. Ellen Tauscher as their chair. New York Rep. Joe Crowley is whip, Washington state Rep. Adam Smith will run their political action committee and Reps. Melissa Bean (Ill.), Ron Kind (Wis.) and Allyson Schwartz (Pa.) are all vice chairs.
Did we miss anyone? (Probably.)
