Israeli Tanks Storm Into Gaza Strip

Tension Builds, Further Threatening Shaky 5 Month Truce, Militants Fire On Tanks

(AP)  Israeli tanks forged into the southern Gaza Strip on Tuesday, drawing rocket and mortar fire from Palestinian militants, militant groups said, intensifying violence that has chipped away at a tenuous cease-fire.

Israel and Hamas have been trading fire for two weeks after nearly five months of relative quiet. The June 19 truce is due to expire next month, and both sides might be trying to dictate more favorable terms in anticipation of the agreement's renewal.

The tanks, backed by a bulldozer and military jeep, rumbled about a quarter-mile deep into the tiny seaside strip, residents and Gaza security officials said. Residents said they leveled lands along the border east of the city of Rafah. It was the first ground action in a week.

The tanks did not respond to the Palestinian fire.

The Israeli military described the activity as "a routine operation to uncover explosive devices near the border fence in the southern Gaza Strip." It said two mortars were fired at troops, causing no injuries or damage.

At least 17 militants have been killed since the truce began unraveling, and by the military's count, militants have fired more than 140 rockets and mortars at Israel.

In an effort to squelch the rocket fire, Israel has kept cargo crossings into Gaza clamped shut for the most part, drastically restricting vital supplies.

Both Israel and leaders of Gaza's ruling Islamic militant Hamas movement have said they hoped the Egyptian-brokered truce could be preserved. But a small, Hamas-allied group said they consider the truce to have broken down, and Israel has threatened to hit hard if the rocket fire persists.

On Tuesday, a spokesman for the Hamas-run Interior Ministry accused Israel of subverting the truce.

"We call on the Palestinian factions to meet to begin an immediate re-evaluation of the calm," spokesman Ihab al-Ghussein said.

Before the truce was reached, militants barraged Israel with near-daily rocket attacks, provoking sometimes harsh military retaliation that killed hundreds of Palestinians, including many civilians.

In recent weeks, several dozen foreign activists have defied the siege, reaching Gaza by boat to try to draw attention to the misery the blockade has caused Gaza's 1.4 million people.

On Tuesday, a local anti-blockade activist, Amajad Shwa, said Israeli seamen boarded a Palestinian fishing boat and arrested one of Gaza's foreign supporters and five Palestinian fishermen. They were also calling on two other foreigners to leave other fishing boats.

The Israeli military had no immediate comment.

BTW seis-6-seis

did you know:
lord = any pagan god being worshiped
amen = head Egyptian deity, as Zeus is the overall mighty one to the greek and Jupiter is to the romans

Do who do you pray?

Exo 23:13 And in all that I have said to you take heed. And make no mention of the name of other mighty ones, let it not be heard from your mouth.

surprise, surprise

Believe what you want, don''t believe if you don''t want, but I believe it does not take a nut case to believe what is written in the Scriptures. The name is NOT "Bible", that was given by romans selling out to greeks and taking their culture. Bible was also the greek city built to worship pagan gods.

Israel and the Jews are blessed in a way that only Scripture can explain. See my previous posting, 0.25% of world population is Jews (children of Abraham), but they received 22% of Nobel prizes.

Speaking about a looooong time, that is how long you are going to wait for Hezbollah/Hamas to win ONE Nobel prize.

Happy pills working??

-No that will not happen, only in your nut-sick mind, after you die, more people will stand to the blind forceful idiots. They will defend their land they lived on for centuries, while the Israelites were wandering on the Europa Land! Nature of Populations Dynamics goes against the will of some zealous nuts who wrote the Bible 1800+ years ago. The venue of Hezbollah/Hamas was the first manifestation of ''resistance'' to the diaspora return to the land of honey and milk. Too little too late. Ignoring them is a grave error. The only way of possible return of the Israelites to the Middle-East is by give''n''take negotiation, in order to improve the local population lifestyle. Middle-Easterners (Muslim, Christians, Jews and atheists) are drinking from the same western source, catering to the same western populations and bringing their political fight for the Middle-East land to the West...

-Barack understands that. After all he knows that Jews are issued from those same Middle-Easterner populations. All of them improve and perform better as time goes by! Those who believe Israel may prevail simply because it''s written in the Bibull, well take your happiness pills, ''cause you''ll be waiting for loooonng time!

Bush could send troops in, then Cheney could get together with Halliburton and turn it into The Gaza Strip Mall.

If that is what you believe, that is your religion. So are you going to disappear? Seems to me religion of darkness.

Isa 62:1 For Zion%u2019s sake I am not silent, and for Yerushalayim%u2019s sake I do not rest, until her righteousness goes forth as brightness, and her deliverance as a lamp that burns.

The enemies of Israel will stand up against Israel, under the guidance of the snake-of-old, whether in the mid-east or in USA, they will come, they will fight, they will loose. That WILL happen.

lochlan --The PALs are not throwing rocks they are using mortars and launching Soviet Grad type missiles into Israeli towns and cities. I bet you would not last one hour under such conditions until you demanded your government take military action. By the way, Palestinian Authority officials in Ramallah accused Hamas on Tuesday of staging the latest blackouts in the Gaza Strip in a bid to win sympathy and incite the Palestinian public against Israel and the PA. The officials said that contrary to Hamas''s claim, there is no shortage of basic goods, medicine and fuel in the Gaza Strip, largely thanks to the many underground tunnels along the border with Egypt. That is also how they get their Russian Made missiles as well.

Yet another right wing terrorist attack by Israel. And to think our politicians support them. Time for impeachments.

"Israeli Tanks Storm Into Gaza Strip"

We all know who the real agressors are. It''s those Palestinians (I mean militants) throwing rocks at the Israeli F-16''s and attack helicopters and tanks that are in Gaza. Who''s the coward, the man throwing a rock at a tank, or the man shooting the guy throwing the rock with a tank? Of course, that''s always been the way it''s been with these parasites, stealing their neighbors land with OUR military equipment and OUR money, and our media tell us over and over, "Americans, side with the coward thieves".

Back to the topic.

The UN are such smart people.

Why don''t they send soldier & people to see to it that Israel does not "invade" Gaza.

And that there are no rockets being exported from Iran to Gaza.

And that not rocket is send from Gaza to Israel.

Zimbabwe still a member of UN? What about a brigade of there troops?

"BUT no use pointing fingers, the fact is:
Jews come from the 2 Southern Tribes
and England, USA and Western whites come from 10 Northen tribes."

Thanks, but I`ll take Lucy as my ancestor, and you can take your 12 tribes and put them in the Heart of Darkness, or anyplace else the sun don`t shine.
