In The Spotlight Harry Smith Reporting The Early Show co-anchor Harry Smith offers commentary for CBSNews.com.
We'll see if President-elect Barack Obama chooses Hillary Clinton to head the State Department.
I for one think it's inspired. I can say this now that the campaign is over.
I first met Mrs. Clinton during her husband's run for the White House in 1992. She was campaigning for him.
I watched a colleague conduct a rather lengthy interview with her and when it was over, I walked up to her and said, "I don't know about your husband but, I think I'd vote for you."
In my humble estimation, Hillary is smarter than Bill. It's also pretty clear she's a lot more disciplined.
Mrs. Clinton was a star before the primary campaign but, became a legend as a result of it.
That kind of power combined with her personal gravitas would be invaluable around the world.
Mrs. Clinton rarely doesn't get what she's after.
Imagine that force thrown at the Middle East peace process. Maybe she could finish what her husband couldn’t.
