Obama Picks Up Another Electoral Vote
President-elect Barack Obama has won one of Nebraska's electoral votes, making history in a state that has never split its electoral votes.
CBS News has awarded one of Nebraska's five electoral votes to Mr. Obama. John McCain has the other four.
Mr. Obama now has a total of 365 electoral votes to McCain's 162. (Click here for full presidential results.)
After all remaining ballots were counted Friday, Mr. Obama emerged with a 3,325-vote lead over McCain in unofficial results in the 2nd Congressional District. The district covers Douglas County, which includes Omaha, and portions of adjacent Sarpy County.
Nebraska, with five votes, and Maine are the only states that divide their electoral votes by congressional district.
The last Democrat to win Nebraska was Lyndon B. Johnson, who carried the state in 1964.
A 1991 state law allows Nebraska to divide its five electoral votes. Two go to the statewide winner and one is awarded from each of the state's three congressional districts.
McCain comfortably won the electoral votes tied to the 1st and 3rd Congressional Districts. He also won the statewide race with about 57 percent of the vote in preliminary returns.
Mr. Obama aggressively sought the one electoral vote. He opened three campaign offices in the district and had 16 paid staff during the campaign.
As of Friday's unofficial results for the district, Obama has a total of 138,892 votes and McCain 135,567 votes. The Obama lead of 3,325 is far higher than the recount threshold of about 1,389, or 1 percent of Obama's total.
Missouri, with 11 electoral votes, is still too close to call. Election officials there have until Tuesday to finish counting. (Click here for the latest numbers from Missouri.)

You apparently have not been paying attention. The ''Giant Mess'' has already been unleashed. You, sir, and those like you are the cause of this mess. You vote your straight republican party line in spite of the damage it brings to our nation. Our country is in more trouble right now than it ever has been, including the great depression, and all you can do is attempt to impress everyone in this forum with your vast wisdom by speaking in nonsensical generalities. Your heros, sir, Reagan, Bush 1, Bush 2 and Cheney along with their ilk gave us the ''trickle down'' theory which, in turn brought us to this point in history. For more than two hundred years this country was built from the bottom up and became the greatest nation in history. Now, thanks to the trully intelligent voters, we have a chance to get our country back. Obama''s underlying theme throughout the campaign has been that of putting our government back where it belongs... in the hands ''of the people''. What you have experienced was not simply an election, but a bloodless revolution. We the people rose up and tore the reins from the hands of a gaggle of despots and now we will proceed to throw them overboard. you lose. Your days are over, they will never come back!

Was this a miracle by god? How ridiculous.
Yes, being a Christian in necessary, but this is a weird State.
When the people of this State won''t allow parental notification when their young teenager gets an abortion.
When a miracle happens and Proposition 8 passes to see the horrible demonstrations of these gay activists, their hate is horrible, and having to live in it.
Such hatred from Liberals towards President Bush, name calling of a Lefty co-worker calling Senator McCain, and Gov. Palin names that are terrible.
Teaching homosexuality in the public school system.
A 55% dropout rate from those who start High School and those that finish.
We passed an 18 Billion Dollar Proposition, (9 Billion were interest charges for the taxpayer), for a boondoggle bullet train.
...but the most important Proposition #2, we gave rights out to the State''s chickens: "...be confined only in ways that allow these animals to lie down, stand up, fully extend their limbs and turn around freely."

I am so tired of this and so glad to see our beloved nation moving away from it! We are on the verge of a New Day, a Day when we will respect all people, regardless of their religion.
It would be easier for me to live in the town my grandfather and great grandfather were born in, Augusta MO.
