Alaska's youngest and first female governor tabbed to be McCain's running mate.

(CBS/ AP)  Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin has returned to her home state of Alaska, where she was greeted by dozens of supporters encouraging her to run for president in four years.

The crowd chanted "2012! 2012!" as Palin disembarked her airplane at the Anchorage airport. Asked by reporters if she might run for president, Palin said, "We'll see what happens then."

She said that 2012 seems "a long way off."

The Alaska governor said she hoped to work with President-elect Barack Obama on energy policy. She was returning to the state after spending Tuesday night in Phoenix, where she watched election returns with her Republican running mate, Arizona Sen. John McCain.

As for Palin's supporters, they cheered her return, but some in the crowd wondered what her future in Alaska entailed.

"We're all anxious to get Sarah back and see if she's changed, if she's changed at all, after this national exposure," Alaska resident Dennis Giradot said. "Some of us may be a little bit apprehensive about the Sarah Palin who comes back to us, but we're hoping it's the same consensus builder that she was when she got elected."

"I think she said a lot of incendiary things on the campaign trial so she's got her work cut out for her," another resident, Angie Podolak, said of Palin.

Alaska pollster Ivan Moore said that Palin's return would bring a mixed reception, noting that her more than 80 percent approval rating among Alaskans had dipped because of the national campaign. "When she left she was almost universally liked," Moore said, adding that now "her negative rating has pretty much tripled."

A negative perception of Palin could be further fueled now that the presidential campaign is over and blame over why McCain lost begins.

Criticism of Palin's clothing expenditures and, most recently, her speaking to a prank caller about her presidential aspirations, swirled a day after the election finished.

"I think it was a difficult relationship," a top McCain campaign official told The New York Times. "McCain talked to her occasionally."

We''re all anxious to get Sarah back and see if she''s changed,

Worry not residents of Alaska, you Sarah Palin is still and will always be her holier than thou oppinionated, narcissistic self. Oh I forgot she is coming back to Alaska better dressed out of that 150 grand shopping spree. So be happy and dance merrily around your Palin idol. Because we never want to see or hear her name again.......

Keep trying Sarah. For I know as long as you are running for high office, the Conservatives will never win. Americans are smarter than you give them credit. They can see right through you. Your motivations are purely self-serving. Thank you electorate for restoring my confidence in the Democratic Process!!!

With those incendiary actions and with no support from the majority of Americans, she would be wasting her time to try to run in 2012 or ever. You can not change a leopards spots. She has made her bed and now can lay in it. Those presidential votes were not for her, they were either for John or to keep Obama from holding office.

But the American people came through and saw through the lies and attacks that the GOP camp threw out for the public to chew on. The majority of us just spit it all back out. Nasty tasting things don''t stay in the mouth long.

So she will be encouraged to run, yes. But will she gain supporters? NO. She is finished in the national arena. She can stay home and raise her children and tell her grandchildren how she became the laughing stock of a presidential campaign.

Hope fully, she will learn by 2012 whether Africa is a country or a continent.
I am not joking. It was revealed on Fox news channel that she didn''t know and was unable to understand whether Africa is a country or a continent.
Can somebody please explain to me how she became governor of a state and picked by GOP for VP race?
I feel really scared to even think about what would happen to us if she became our President one day!

I respectfully disagree with you. As long as we have narrow-minded, back ward Republican bigots in our country, she has bright chances in politics!

All she gotta do is to tell people that god has a plan and we are fighting the battle of armagaddon!

What you are saying is very true. But even being medicated and still Palin delusional, as well as registered Republicans, they would still be able to vote.

I don''t see how this is possible considering how the media has thouroughly ruined her image. Now they are having regrets, because they realize that she made them money. If Palin wants to run in 2012, she had better make some powerful friends in the media and start working on repairing some of the damage that has been done. I hope they start promoting her 2 years ahead of time like they did for Obama. Then they would have to spin every article in her favor like they did for him as well.

I for one will be kind of sorry to see Sarah Palin slid away.
She always gave me my morning laugh. Never in modern times has a politician been quite so entertaining just by opening her mouth day after day.
I will miss you Sarah. Oh wait I have XM radio I can still hear you in up in the far north. You go girl and keep up the funny stuff your so now famous for.

-------------------------

You added the "battle of armagaddon" part to be a smart a$$. So you disagree that God has a plan? I assure you He does, but Palin never said she knows what God''s plan is or that she would dare speak for Him. All she ever said was that we should pray that we are doing His will in what we do. What is wrong with that? What happened to freedom of religion? If you ask me, the Democrats are turning into the true bigots. You are now loaded with black racists and anti-Christians.

"The Alaska governor said she hoped to work with President-elect Barack Obama on energy policy."

What????

The governor''s "energy policy" is to open everything there is up for drilling regardless of the environmental sensitivity of the area or the risk a spill poses, and then give herself and every other Alaskan a handout by levying a tax against the oil companies that the oil companies promptly pass down to all of us to pay.

In short, Palin''s "energy policy" rolls planet raping, the welfare state, and "taxation without representation" into a vote-buying ball of misdirection.

Consult THIS.

The mindlessness of Palin is reflected in her thinking that she could be a viable candidate in 2012. She is the only major candidate in recent history who would not hold a press conference because everyone knew she was unable to answer basic questions. How would she do if she had to slosh through multiple debates in a primary?

She apparently doesn''t real she became a joke to most of the nation.

She is a small time politician who operates out of self interest and greed. Stays at home and chrges the state a per diem. Charges the citizens for travel and fancy hotels for his children. Lets her husband question department heads. She is pretty... pretty corrupt.

The best thing I can say about her is that she was a MAJOR reason for people electing Obama. For that we should thank her.

You are absolutely right, she was instrumental to the outcome of this election. Her ignorance and sheer stupidity sealed the deal for many Americans. I honestly dont see her getting near the White House ever. If the Republicans are smart and thats a big IF, they will keep her as far away from DC as possible.

Four years, eight years or twenty years .... it makes no difference. If Palin thinks she will run for higher office again, you can be sure that those clips of her saying incredibly stupid "deer-in-the-headlight" things to Katie Couric, Charlie Gibson and others will be played over and over again and will have the same effect. She doesn''t have the right stuff and never will. She''s forever in the category with Dan Quayle.

Sarah "well-dressed Hockey Mom" Palin has returned to Alaska and been greeted by "dozens" of supporters who wanted her to run again in 2012. There were no moose, caribeau, grizzly or polar bears in the audience many of them heading for Canada!

Also outside were hundreds of eskimoes waiting in line to be the first to get some of Palin''s $150,000 wardrobe to be "supposedly donated" to charity!

The handful of Palin supporters which greeted her demanded that she try again for high political office in 2012 which Palin indicated might be a possibility, provided that she does NOT have to give interviews to Katie Couric, has the neocon Fascist Nazi Republican National Committee pay for her education to return to high school and take World Geography, and will get an open account from Neiman-marcus and Saks 5th Ave, again to be paid for by the RNC!

SIG HEIL, SHE LEARNS REAL QUICK!!!, BUSH!!!
sig heil, NO ONE BETTER TOUCH MY $500 SHOES!!!, McBush!!!
sig heil, I''LL BE THE BEST DRESSED GUV IN ALASKA!!!, Palin!!!

Just watched a clip of Bill O''Reilly talking with Foxnews about how utterly unintelligent Palin is/was regarding civics and geography etc. So O''Reilly says "ok-so she is a little weak in geography---but she could be tutored etc--right right?" Like many here have said, there are things a person may or may not know.. but a 44 year old gov of a state, running for VP--- isn''t going to be helped by going to tutoring school to learn the names of the countries of North America. This is first grader stuff.
