Earnings: R.R. Donnelley's Profits, Sales Fall Slightly
This story was written by David Kaplan.
After a swinging to profit in Q2, print services company R.R. Donnelley (not to be confused with directory services company R.H. Donnelley) has suffered some minor setback in Q3 as a result of the worsening economic climate that's been hitting publishers particularly hard. The company reported that Q3 earnings slipped 3.9 percent to $168.2 million ($0.80 per diluted share) compared to last year's $175 million, citing the bad economy. Net sales for the Chicago company's U.S. Print and Related Services segment were also down a modest decreased 0.8 percent to $2.1 billion year-over-year. Stressing the uncertain outlook, R.R. Donnelley is projecting non-GAAP net earnings shares to range from $3.08 to $3.11.
