KATIE COURIC: you have an aunt who's been living in this country apparently illegally, and your campaign says any and all appropriate laws should be followed. So would you support her being deported to Kenya?
SEN. BARACK OBAMA: If she has violated laws, then those laws have to be obeyed. We're a nation of laws. And, obviously, that doesn't lessen my concern for her. I haven't been able to get in touch with her. But, I'm a strong believer that you obey the law.
COURIC: What did the McCain team do in the course of this campaign that made you the angriest?
OBAMA: You know, I, I think that, ahh, you know, I -- a lot of the stuff that has made me angry hasn't directly come from the McCain campaign. I mean, I, I do think that there is a -- there is a Republican or rightwing -- media outlet-- set of media outlets that went after my wife for a while in a way that I thought was just completely out of bounds. And -- and I, you know, frankly I-- you know, I would have never considered or expected my allies to do something comparable to the spouse of an opponent. ... I just feel like family is -- are civilians. And they don't sign up for this stuff. They support their -- their spouse. But generally, you know, they're really -- should be bystanders in this process, even if they're campaigning for you. You know, they're saying nice things about -- about their -- their, in this case, their husbands. I mean, that's what you expect. And-- and that doesn't make them suddenly targets.

- Machineguy,
Sorry, but let the truth be told, you don''''t know what you are getting with McCain. You thought you knew what you were getting with Bush, and you didn''''t know. You are afraid and lead by fear. This is no way to vote. There is so much apathy I see with McCain supporters. Maybe it is because it is time for you to do something out of your fear. It is very liberating and after 8 years of GOP policies (that McCain can''''t dispute), you might learn that other ways do work.

Sorry, I missed you rcivil message and didnt respond. If you still find this please accept my apology for being so tardy.
But I am not deciding in fear. I am not afraid of McCain and trust him to listen. I do not trust Obama. Its that simple. there are far too many examples to list them bbut it starts with not trusting anyone who raids the public treasury and sparks class strife to buy my vote. That is how I see Obama''s tax plan. I would much rather he spoke of a plan for restoring our education leadership, or one for removing this deep division that divides our people, or restoring our leadership in world trade. - Reply to this comment

- jsd30,
so were you a POW? As a POW, were you offered an early release? And did you refuse the release, because there were men there longer than you? Did you suffer years of torture because of that decision? That may not mean much to you, sir, but to the vets I know, it means a lot.
Sir,
do you have friends that have killed cops, and still brag about it? Do you have a friend that stuck a bomb in a home where a little 8 year old boys slept (I realize Obama was only eight too, the same age as the child that was meant to be the victim) and then said just a few years ago, "I didn''t do enough of that." Do you have a friend who called someone like Reverend Wright his "mentor"? That may not mean much to you, sir, but to the vets and all Americans that I know, it means a lot. - Reply to this comment

I don''t know which veterans you''ve been talking to ,but myself and whole bunch of other vietnam veterans said no way could we vote for the self proclaimed hero McCain, you better tell those veterans to check his voting record on veterans issues. they are voting for him not on issues, they are voting for him just because he is a veteran. He was not the only POW in the vietnam war, so therefor every Pow is a hero from all wars. Most of them don''t consider themselves heros, like McCain does. - Reply to this comment

Targeting Sara Palin was the result of a lot of educated people both Dems and Republicans who took the time to see that she is a wannabe player in the big game. When you have big name Republicans comming out for Obama and saying she is the reason your reaction is to blame the "LIBS" and not provide FACTS that support your regurgitated rhetoric that was actually drummed up by a spin doctor.
Just because you cannot justify your pathetic outbursts with anything more credible than "Stupid Libs" shows you are no more capable of carrying on an intelligent debate than a Suni tribesman which really does reflect back on Sara and John McCains desparate attacks on Obama.
I am not denying your right to rant just pointing out your flaws. You need to try and educate yourself with actual not percieved facts and quit lashing out because of your obvious lack of intelligence. You are divisive, boorish, you want to control everyone and everything in your life and not allow the freedoms we as Independants and Democrats are actually allowed by the constitution.
Well, you had your way for 8 years. Time has come for the little Dictator (Bush) to go away along with his Henchman (Cheney). It is time my friend for a new direction and a fresh positive outlook, not one of fear, rhetoric, and trash talk.

- Sweet Pea, it seems I''ve read in the news that the military, though they do have some Obama voters, seems to be largely leaning toward McCain. I''ve failed to meet a veteran yet that not only says they will vote McCain, but everyone that I''ve talked to says the idea of Obama in the White House scares them.

- A lot of you need to do some research before making your biased remarks. Listen to Laura Bush.
Criticism for "For the first time in my life" comments.
On February 18, 2008, Obama commented in Milwaukee, Wisconsin that "For the first time in my adult life, I am proud of my country because it feels like hope is finally making a comeback." Later that evening she reworded her stump speech in Madison, Wisconsin, saying "For the first time in my adult lifetime, I''m really proud of my country, and not just because Barack has done well, but because I think people are hungry for change." Several commentators criticized her for her remarks, and the campaign issued a statement that "anyone who heard her remarks ... would understand that she was commenting on our politics". In June 2008 Laura Bush indicated she thought Michelle Obama''s words had been misrepresented in the media "I think she probably meant I''m ''more proud,'' you know, is what she really meant," adding, "I mean, I know that, and that''s one of the things you learn and that''s one of the really difficult parts both of running for president and for being the spouse of the president, and that is, everything you say is looked at and in many
cases misconstrued."
