Did Obama Dye His Hair?

His Barber Denies That He Ever Did -- Or That He's Stopped In Bid To Look More Experienced!

    "The Early Show" contributer Laura Schwartz visited the Chicago barbershop where Sen. Barack Obama has gotten his hair cut for the last 15 years to get the low down on Obama's low cut.

    Images from the debates, conventions and campaign trail in the 2008 presidential election.

(CBS)  There may be no better place for someone to let his hair down than the neighborhood barber shop.

So political commentator and Early Show contributor Laura Schwartz stopped by the Hyde Park Hair Salon, a few blocks from Barack Obama's home, where Obama's been a regular for more than 13 years -- including a haircut the day before the show's Tuesday visit.

He uses the same barber all the time, Zariff.

What do they talk about?

"Anything, from A-to-Z," Zariff told Schwartz. "Sports, family, community."

But not politics.

"He loves (the) Hyde Park (neighborhood), so he wants to know everything that's going on here," Zariff explained.

He says Obama himself hasn't changed much over the years, but his haircut sure has: "It's been gradual. (From) long, to what you see right now, Id say, probably over the last three years."

It was Zariff who cut Obama's hair before the Democratic convention in 2004, when his keynote address thrust him onto the national stage. "That was a lot of fun!" Zariff remembers.

Obama's cut is now "a lot shorter," Zariff pointed out. "You know, a lot closer."

And ye says that style is becoming all the rage in the shop, as customers come in an request the Obama Cut "all the time. Especially the kids. They love him. (Kids) as young as 10, 7, you know? All the way to 60!"

Then came the potentially explosive question: Are the rumors true that Obama used to have his hair dyed to try to look younger, but no longer does, in an attempt to appear more experienced?

"No controversy," Zariff responded quickly. "One hundred percent natural. No dye."

Has he ever?!

"Never has. He doesn't have time for it!"

A customer whose hair Zariff was cutting as he spoke to Schwartz, one who's also been having his hair cut at the shop for many years, said there are "exciting times for the neighborhood, Chicago and the country, as well."

The shop's owner, Ishmael Aliman, told Schwartz he plans a party Election Night, and he's definitely feeling good about Obama's chances.

That sentiment was echoed loud and clear, in unison, by the rest of the patrons and barbers in the shop when Schwartz asked whether they're excited about what could happen in a week.

How about CBS asking McCain how many Depends he goes through each day?

Ask Palin How many Russians she has seen lately?

Well who cares? Did Dole have a face lift? Did McCain have one too?
Face it, this has been a country that demands good looks. So many Americans, including me, constantly are doing things to make them look better and younger. Now if we''re going to start complaining about hair color, don''t go to the drug store, grocery store and look on the hair care aisles (Hair coloring- duh!!!!!) I plan on fighting that aging thing until I die. The world expects me too. If I don''t, then you bet I''ll hear all kinds of insults about my looks and everybody elses.

Lets write a story on whether or not any elected official has missed brushing their teeth on a daily basis. Ever. Or some other totally irrelevant fact about a politician that is not worth the time to read... sheesh.

Oh, come on people! Can''t we all get a sense of humor?
This was a sweet story about a public official and his barber -- nothing more. And, really, I am getting offended with all of the disrespectful comments -- both Obama and McCain are serving our country and both deserve respect, no matter what our political beliefs are. It is embarrassing to see Americans act like such sophomoric idiots in a public venue like a blog.

Upon finding out the important information that Obama does NOT dye his hair, why does CBS feel the need to publish a story about it ? Indeed, why would they feel the need to publish a story if they''d found out the he did ? What idiocy!

Obama may not be dying his hair but his skin pigment seems to be darker; it was much lighter when he first announced he was running and his hair was blacker with little gray. Perhaps he''s going back to his roots?

I could care less about Obama''s hair....I do wonder just how many questionable issues about Obama will be raised before one "sticks"....I think possibly the answer is, that one will never stick. Too much money, too much liberal media....elections will never be the same in this country. The media knows now....that if they don''t care about honesty and truth, they can in fact determine the outcome of the election for the highest position in the land....

I wonder why CBS does not post a story about the Obama Supporter in California that has a manneguin hanging from a noose symbolizing Sarah Palin? Oh that is right - nothing on this site negative towards the Obama campaign.
Typical free pass again from the liberal media bent on getting Barack Obama elected.

CBS actually wasted a "journalist''s" time on this dribble? They have yet to send someone out to interview Prof. Ayers so we can clear up this whole "domestic terrosist" association once and for all. If someone would do that we could actually get past it and on to the more important issues of the day like healthcare, tax cuts, international policy etc.

Tell me what this has to do with the Obama campaign? It''s simply another lame attempt at guilt-by-association....seems that is all the right-wingers have to offer this election. And then you blame the media for not reporting this garbage. You don''t see CBS reporting McCain''s associations, like G. Gordon Liddy for example...must mean the mainstream media swings to the right.

Yes it has been hilarious- she ACTUALLY SAID that part of her foreign policy experience is due to the fact that Russia is close to Alaska....you actually want this airhead a heartbeat away from commander-in-chief?? Hair color? I''m more curious about his lip color. When a person''s lips turn blue or gray like his do periodically- it''s a sign of bad health. Since he quit smoking, it is unlikely this is the cause... but this effect (caused by poor oxygenation of the blood?) can also result from cocaine abuse.
Larry Sinclair says he gave cocaine to Obama in a Limo while BO was senator.

Even though you hate him because he''s more intelligent that McShame and Dumb Butt Palin, I will still respect him because he WILL be Commander-in-Chief.

And for those who truly dislike our future President? You''d better watch what you say in public - charges can and will be brought up against you for saying the wrong thing, so choose your words carefully after November 4.

A vote for Obama means tax cuts for the people who actually work for a living - the middle class. McCain wants to give taxes to the thieving, greedy wall steet CEO''s and the idle rich. McCain also wants to continue to spend 10 Billion a month - that''s right every month - in Iraq and nothing at home to help our own economy and people who are losing their jobs. Instead of talking about what he is going to do to help our economy, McCain and the Wicked Witch of Wasilla call names like Marxist, Socialist, Terrorist - all while claiming that they are not running a negative campaign or race baiting! Bull - the American people can see exactly what the McCain/Palin team are doing and it is ugly and disgusting.

WHITE PICKET FENCES: It%u2019s noted that Sen. Obama plans to utilize the 700 billion dollar bailout to convert suburban homes recently acquired by the government (due to failed mortgages) to Section 8 low-income houses for inner-city families. Despite stereotypical fears of crime, school deterioration, and plummeting property values, arguably a low-income relocation program to suburbia enhances social equity for poor inner-city families, integrates the suburbs, and affirmatively spreads the wealth.

If Obama wanted to emulate McCain''s attack ads, we would hear robocalls in the Heartland informing America''s patriots that McCain:

a) was in the pocket of former Lincoln Savings & Loan president and convicted criminal Charles Keating;

b) was buddies with fellow convicted criminal Republicans Ted Stevens, Tom Delay, Scooter Libby, Bob Allen, Trent Lott, Jack Abramoff, Don Young, Larry Craig, Randy %u201CDuke%u201D Cunningham, Tom Feeney, Alberto Gonzoles, Bob Ney, Rick Renzi, Richard Curtis, Steven Griles, Mark Foley...etc;

c) accepted political donations from the Watergate convicted criminal G. Gordon Liddy;

d) picked a runningmate mired in scandal (Troopergate) and has acted "unethical" according to her own people - - and doctored expense reports to bilk her taxpayers;

You can%u2019t call yourself a patriot while voting for criminals.

Global warming and global lack of respect. Palin abuse of power, who built her home? 47 million without healthcare. Jobs sent overseas. Tax breaks for the wealthy and major corporations. Veterans on 3-4 tours of duty. Lack of care when they return. Hair coloring. Good Grieve Charlie Brown!
