Four St. Louis Middle School Students May Be Punished For Allegedly Hitting Jewish Classmates

(AP)  At least four students from a suburban St. Louis middle school face punishment for allegedly hitting Jewish classmates during what they called "Hit a Jew Day."

The incident happened last week at Parkway West Middle School in Chesterfield.

District officials said Thursday they believe that fewer than 10 children of the district's 35 Jewish students were struck.

District spokesman Paul Tandy said that in most cases, the students were hit on the back of their shoulders but one student was slapped in the face.

It began with an unofficial "Spirit Week" among sixth-graders that started harmlessly enough with a "Hug a Friend Day." Then there was "High Five Day."

Soon, though, the days moved from friendly to silly. Next there was "Hit a Tall Person Day" and, finally, "Hit a Jew Day."

District officials believe a handful of children were directly involved. Those who actually struck classmates could face suspension and required counseling, Tandy said. Others who weren't directly involved but taunted Jewish students or egged on classmates could face lesser penalties.

"There is a mix of sadness and outrage," Tandy said. "The concern is a lot of kids knew about it and they didn't take action or say anything."

Karen Aroesty, St. Louis regional director of the Anti-Defamation League, said this was more than a case of bullying. Officials from the group will meet Friday with district leaders to discuss the matter.

They were 6th graders for Christ sake. Does the world freak out when Israeli soldiers shoot children in Palestine while they play? They do it on a regular basis.

Next will be hate a "N" word day. Or, maybe had a Asian day. This is just a preluded to accepting the evils racism and hide it as "all in fun." Once you pronounce to hate someone or something there is no more "Fun." Does that so called "fun" end when the day is over? No, it blossoms over the next day and then continues until someone gets hurt. Then, it is hidden by the saying, "It was all in fun." There is no FUN in hating. Anyone who dismisses this as "fun" is a fool or have inclinations for racism themselves. There is no "FUN" in hatred. Just ask the Jewish people, the blacks that died or had the water hoses and dogs released on them, the japanese that was in camps in the USA. The Mexicans that are looked down on or the Muslims that had NOTHING to do with 9/11 and are being threatened, or the white kid in a minority school that keeps getting picked on and laughed at how much fun that is. I,m a Jew, let them hit me and they will wake up with a broken jaw. Might teach them a good lesson. Some idiots only understand that type of language. Nobody should just dismiss this as a childhood prank. It indicates a mind set that you should pick on others you think are weaker than you. i know you wont probly belive this but i am a sixth grader from west middle and im jewish and i got slapped in the face. there was no hit a tall person day and some of this is a lie. 2 people were suspended for 3 weeks. the person who started it and another person who hit a lot of people were not bad kids ppl!

When I was in school, there was "spread a rumor that someone is gay" day, the eraser test, a game called Smear the Queer, the jerk that loved to throw the ball really hard in kickball to get you out. It''''s what kids do! So suspend them for hitting the kid in the face and be done with it and don''''t act like it''''s this big issue, because it''''s not.

IMNHO- After School community work, what you want them to become a obama a lot of talk no action and vote present. No lets spank their buts put them on chow hall duty for a couple of months washing dishes. Making them to community work would mean indoctrination in to the far left''s moraless and ethical defunked life style.
