Facts and statistics on sexual assault and rape, with victim resources.

(CBS/AP)  Three Silsbee High School football players have been charged with raping a cheerleader at a post-game party.

Christian Paul Roundtree, 18, Rakeem Bolton, 17, and a 16-year-old boy, whose name was not released because he is a minor, have been charged with sexually assaulting a child, the Beaumont Enterprise reported.

Roundtree and Bolton were both released on $100,000 bond late Monday. Information about the 16-year-old, who was taken to the Hardin County Juvenile Correction Center, was not immediately available.

The cheerleader and the suspects were at a house party early Saturday when the alleged assault occurred, according to an arrest warrant affidavit filed by the Silsbee Police Department, reports The Beaumont Enterprise.

The girl told police that three males forced her into a room, held her down and sexually assaulted her, the affidavit states.

When others at the party tried to open the door, two of the males fled through a window of the one-story house, according to police. The third boy remained behind.

One of the suspects who fled left behind a pair of shorts, and later returned and made threats so he could retrieve them, the affidavit states. The police were called about 2:40 a.m., Police Chief Dennis Allen told the newspaper.

The cheerleader told police she was sexually assaulted and described three to four attackers, Allen said. Police are investigating whether alcohol was present at the party.

The alleged victim was taken to Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital, where doctors administered a rape kit, the newspaper reported. The kit will be sent to Texas Department of Public Safety, with results taking up to four months.

Bolton and the 16-year-old were arrested about 9:30 a.m. Monday at Silsbee High School, Allen said.

Roundtree was later arrested at his grandmother's Silsbee residence, he said.
A fourth male was a suspect but now is serving as a witness, Allen said.

Ah yes, the same youth that have been raised to be irresponsible, disrespectful, self-absorbed and inhumane by over-indulgent absent parents who think love, guidance and proper upbringing means showering them with anything and everything. We''ve also become to lax with these punks and need to treat them like the criminals they''ve become and make them suffer and punish them without feeling sorry for them. This is why teens shouldn''t be given the vote. Their still mentally dysfunctional and immature.

As if this was a new thing happening out there?? When the media, the courts and our society stop making the woman look like she "asked for it" or lied about it happening, men will do this and hope that the female victim is humiliated and they are let off.

Learn English syntax. "rape at school parties" implies that this was a "school party" or a school sponsored party, or the party was at the school! MORON!

This is nothing new. We''''ve been hearing about high school football players raping cheerleaders for many years. It''''s always been tolerated. They don''''t get prosecuted because they''''re GOOD students. This will continue until these worthless little b a s t a r d s are treated like the criminals they are and sent to prison. Why should star atheletes be above the law?

Or in the case of the Duke lacrosse team, it didn''t happen. If they boys did commit the crime, they will be punished...don''t you worry about that. You can calm down about your hatred to atheletes now.

I don''t know what to believe with stories like this. Maybe the boys did rape her, perhaps because they felt entitled or invincible to repercussions.

Maybe the girl wanted to do all those boys at once but when people found out what was going on she changed her story to save her reputation.

And really, without a video camera or her being beaten and injured internally, it really comes down to who has the more convincing story. I hope the factual truth comes out in this case, and not some fabrication by either side.

It''s not so much athletes as each segment of society has a tendency to grant preferential treatment to "celebrities".

Let me guess mjm, at one point in your life you were considered an athlete? That may be why you appear to be so touchi regarding preferential treatment of athletes.

You are clearly associating your issues with a handful of "jocks" and making a blanket statement towards all of them.

Trust me, not all atheletes are as evil as you portray. There are plenty of other non jock types that rank right up there in the creep category.

Your irrational blanket statements only make yourself look ignorant, but feel free.

Are you referring to football players or all athletes? I certainly don''t remember a lot of thugs on the golf team, or cross country running team, etc. Now I was on the football team and there were thugs, but there were decent smart people there to. In my HS, most of the thugs hung out in the smoking section, a place you wouldn''t find football players.

High School sports is a programmed rip off of America that is in place only to benefit the elitists that own the professional sports teams, and whose stadiums that every taxpayer is forced to subsidize.

Secondly it''s a planned diversion of the little people to keep their simple minds occupied so they don''t concern themselves with bigger political issues, such as the current pillaging of our country by the "elite" of Wall Street.

They can also predict what jobs and criminal activities will attract these thugs and bullies when sports and sports gambling have used them up and cast them aside.

Nancy? Calm down?

Talk about overreaction-and you still appear to be fixated on peoples opinion of athletes.

Hatred?
Posted by mjm117 at 06:13 PM : Oct 22, 2008

Anyone with the discipline to be an athlete is not someone you hate. What you do hate watching is young men being hustled by some father figure into giving all for the team. Which usually means disabling sports injuries.

No hatred. Tell me, how many former athletes "had a great future" but they had an injury.

I have to commend you on your response. There are absolutely pushy parents and coaches alike. But to condemn an athelete because he is an athelete is what I have issues with. We could point fingers all over society (i.e. how models portay images to our younger women and girl (I am a father of a teenage daughter)).

My point is, our society is a mess. Not because atheletes. Not because of models. Not because of drugs. Not because of crime.

Our society is a mess because nobody cares anymore. Our society is a mess because nobody stands up for what is right

Our problem is that behavior that we knew to be sociopathic is now considered normal.

As for your statement regarding Prozac,I disagree.
I actually do feel there is an over prescribing of the selective seritonin reuptake inhibitors(SSRIs)

But are sports really sociopathic? Wouldn''t you think the actual problems are a bit deeper then men and women kicking around a ball?

I agree, there is most definitely issues with how often medicines are prescribed. But wait, we can fix it by reproducing seritonin! Let''s just flood your brain with it!

That''s the problem mjm-I wasn''t referring to sports when I was speaking about sociopathic behavior.

You''ve obviously caught a lot of flak about being athlete.

As for altering the level of neurotransmitters in the brain that is a whole ''nother can of worms.

As for mass reproducing serotonin-if given systemically how the heck do you plan on getting it through the blood brain barrier. The barrier is a little on the lipid side and serotonin as best I remember is a polar molecule.

Just because one girl falsely accused the Duke LaCross team does not mean it should be an example of immediately doubting the girls testimony.
Believe me having the courage to turn someone in for raping you and going through the humiliation of a sexual assault exam and all of the grilling you are put under. It takes great courage on her part to stand up for herself.

At least from the story anyway it sounds as though the boys ran when caught - A group of Guys nailing a willing girl do not run they stick around and brag.

This if proven true is a crime. Regardless, it is very disturbing. Unfortunately, some parents are are allowing music, TV, movies, computer games, etc to bring up their children. In other cases, they allow other youth and immature adults do the parenting. This is a recipe for failure and we see it every day in society.

Someone earlier mentioned that sports builds character. That is kind of true, however I would say that it builds on the character that a young person brings to the sport. There are exceptions where a coach or a program magically influences an athlete to become a more responsible decision maker. The coach or school still cannot be blamed for failure such as this.

This falls squarely on the shoulders of the parents.

I''m an older washed up ex-athlete that would not entertain the kind of thinking that occurred at this party. My parents were not perfect but they sure did a good job in building my character''s foundation. Coaches built on what my parents built as the foundation.

the the little world of school athletics athletes are the elite....they are the alpha males and everything is done to build it so they''ll produce dominance.

there is no excuse if they did it, but at least some of the blame rests with those who shaped them. tho i doubt any will make the connection.

Quite unlike CSI on TV, real testing takes lots of time. It cannot be accomplished overnight. And yes, it does take months to be completed.
