Airline Pilot Arrested On Alcohol Charge
United Airlines First Officer Was Set To Fly From London To San Francisco When Taken Into Custody At Heathrow
The airline says the first officer was due to join the crew of flight 955 from London's Heathrow Airport to San Francisco when he was arrested early Sunday morning. London's Metropolitan Police say the pilot was arrested following a breath test but has since been bailed.
The Sun, a British newspaper, reported that the 44-year-old American pilot was marched off the flight by cops as passengers looked on.
"We couldn’t believe what we were seeing. The pilot was frog-marched off the aircraft," the newspaper quoted one unidentified passenger as saying.
The Sun said police acted on a tip from the ground crew.
United said Monday that the man - whose name was not given - was one of three pilots due to fly the plane to the United States.
It says he has been removed from service and that the company is investigating the incident.
The legal limit for pilots is nine micrograms of alcohol in 100 milliliters of breath.

- You gotta drink vodka in the morning--it''s much harder to smell.

- This pilot is an alcoholic. Being drunk in the morning isn''t normal. He also well understands the consequences of flying at or above 0.04% BAC or 8 hours bottle to throttle. These numbers are on your written FAA exam. Sad story. I''m glad they caught him. His career is probably toast however.

- For myself I didn''t discover flying until later on in life which means that I didn''t go thru the airforce .
Aquiring an FAA lisence along with the rest of the neccesary ratings to fly commercialy is extremely difficult now .
The individual was obviously playing the previous evening after his flight landed in London and he certainly is one of the Sr pilots in the airline working his way up that ladder .
I also don''t have any sympathy for the 1st officer either, I''m busting my hump aquiring these credentials just to fly corporately .
I think he''s taking his lisence and ratings for granted anymore, once you lose your lisence my friend you don''t get it back ! - Reply to this comment

Failed FAA Pilot Bobby Sturgell Racks Up His 3,000th Civilian Kill, And Somehow Keeps Flying
To this day, our federal government in the United States has continued to allow the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), for good reason otherwise known as the Tombstone Agency, to be run by a morally-bereft, incompetent liar/perjurer by the name of Robert Allan [Bobby] Sturgell. You already know Bobby Sturgell. Bobby self-touts his Top Gun status while seemingly unable to cite any bona fide combat experience. Bobby professes his married status while somehow unable to wear a wedding ring while on business trips. Bobby feigns public official status, while borne of a DelMarVa shoot-em-up biker bar until recently owned by his FBI Mom who formerly served as personal secretary to J. Edgar Hoover. Bobby Sturgell is the imposter known as FAA -Acting- Administrator. How apt.
A few months ago, Bobby Sturgell racked up his 3,000th civilian aviation kill. That makes for a lot of notches on his Top Gun wing. In but one (1) short year in office as bumbling Acting Administrator of the FAA, Bobby Sturgell has finished the job, and he has murdered aviation safety. Yet the Bobby Sturgell homicide-of-decency commenced at least 5 years ago when Bobby Sturgell joined the FAA back in 2003. - Reply to this comment
